They're a big and successful club. I'm not going to applaud them or wish them well. They can fuck off.

So very grown up of you - but I'm not surprised - have a great day at school :)

I reckon you'll find yourself in the minority.

If the question today for your little black pencil was:

"That there Liverpool Football Club, what you reckon?"

Box 1: Ooooh they're such a big club, you just have to take your hat off to the curly wig wearing, foam handing sporting, face painted, Wrexham/Dublin/Oslo/Essex hailing scamps.

or

Box 2: They can fuck right off.

I reckon Box 2 would landslide it.

I can handle being in the minority  -

box 1 - Yes they are big club, yes they have fans that travel across the world to see them, don't most clubs (Villa included) have fans that dress up, wear big foam hands? If previous seasons are taken into consideration many of the Villa fans will be in fancy dress for "the last game of the season" at Millwall on Sunday - and wait for this ......some might not even come from Birmingham.

As for Box 2 - That just about sums your mentality  - I understand you are a legal professional - that type of comment is hardly befitting a "man of the bar "

Hopefully I shall be in London for the play off final - once again I extend my offer to meet up with you for a pint to discuss all things claret and blue (or in this case red and white)  UTV

If Kettering Town fans don't automatically want Villa to win the Championship play-offs, they can do one as well!

Calling a Solicitor a "man of the Bar" is as gross an insult as you can imagine - borderline defamatory! We are the ones who do all the work*, not just turn up at Court and claim all the credit!

Indeed. Outrageous comment. I have a spine for one which differentiates the species.

What he means is they're the cleverer ones who aren't socially inept and can actually stand up and talk to people.  ;)

(and yes, I know that's a bit rich coming from an accountant!)

edit: and all of my solicitor friends are very much men of the bar.

Everyone else apart from Aston Villa can fuck off.  That's my simple rule.

Yet more courageousness.

Advocacy is easy. Was in St Helens County Court yesterday for a 2pm. Was done by 2:20. The fancy dress merchant who was there for the other side was paid £690 net of VAT for it. He had the cheek to whinge that we could have gone in at 11:30 if I'd been there. Oh, sorry mate, for having you know, a job and all.

Yeah, but as Orwell nearly said some can fuck off more than others. I don't care how successful Liverpool are, they can absolutely fuck off a lot.

May as well apply the time-tested Acker Doctrine here.

Absolutely. I use it to explain why I never bet on football.

My interest in Liverpool is only confined to when they’re in crisis mode. That should be sometime next season when they’re mid table and their star player Salah wearing the colours of this season’s Champions league winners.

Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world. You only have to travel to a few countries in different continents to discover that however if all your football world is observed from your upstairs back room then they can fuck off quite rightly.
