How are we four points behind Cardiff with two games remaining.  It’s criminal.

Cardiff won their first five games.

We have 1 win in our first seven league games.

By second week of September they had a 10 point lead over us so it's been a struggle all season when you have starts like that.

They had a dodgy spell over xmas when I thought they were done and they've come back very impressively.

Still hope Fulham can somehow get second though.

That's a good point, it wasn't our dodgy spell after the Wolves win that cost us automatic promotion, it was the slow start to the season.

Probably a bit of both. Relatively poor form at the start and end of the season. Similar to our title bids under SGT and BFR.

SHQ is right. Grabban from the off and we'd have won 2 or 3 more and be 6 or 7 points better off.

Agree with Damo. Even after the poor start, we still had another 40 odd games to put it right. We lost games along the way we should have won.

the most avoidable defeat was QPR , very unprofessional by all at Villa not just the manager.

It was a bit of both. QPR and Bolton were terrible results that killed any momentum after Wolves.

SB has less excuse for our slow start. He had most of last season to sort us out and get us ready to come flying out of the blocks last August like Cardiff did. Stuff like Samba coming on as emergency striker should not have happened.

Yes we had Gabby starting which looks incredible now.

Grabban was available but we gambled on Hogan hitting it off from the start which didn't happen.

Also look at our midfield on the opening day....

AEM- Whelan-Lansbury-Bacuna

World away from what we've been putting out since October.

I know it's been said but we want to be playing Cardiff, not this lot. They actually pass the ball and look full of pace. Think they deserve it more than Cardiff cloggers aswell.
Agreed Fulham are a good team but why do they deserve it more than Cardiff?

Because Cardiff are one of the most cynical, niggly, dirty teams currently operating. They're awful to watch. I hate to see that sort of football rewarded.
Yes ok but the team that finishes second deserves the reward attached to that position.

I see it as 0-3 Cardiff
0-3 v Qpr
1-3 Norwich

And the 0-0 v Hull away and Boro at home

Take points there and very different story

Stoke winning at HT. I fully expect them to lose followed by “a could na asked them to do more. I thought we were excellent. I really did”

Did Chester's goal get chalked off?

Westwood is playing for Burnley today - they’ve equalised, and will probably now win. Lambert in!

Declan Rice’s error there for Arsenal’s 2nd was priceless.

Get ready for the post match interview Toronto Villa.

Half of me finds a smile creeping across my face when Lambert speaks. The other half of me starts to remember the horror of his time in charge of us.

During a video call with my parents this afternoon, the subject turned to Lambert, and my dad asked me who I'd prefer as manager; Bruce or we go again? Before I could answer, my mum chirped in with 'oh, Bruce, definitely. At least I can understand what he's saying'.
