The referee has to be absolutely certain to give that penalty at that stage of the game and in those circumstances. It seemed 50/50 at the most. Of course the forward is going to go down whether there was definitive contact or not.

Juventus have benefited from the odd dodgy referring decision over the years. They havent paid for some of them.

It was a penalty. The defender stopped a clear goal, it was a clumsy challenge and being that close to the goal it will always be given.

Neves' goal for Wolves tonight was sheer brilliance.

Defenders are meant to stop goals aren’t they? I agree clumsy but not certain enough to be given at that stage of a match like that.

Yes but as I said when it's that close to goal and the defender doesn't clearly get the ball, you will always get a penalty.

Indeed. Reminded me of Lowton away to Stoke. Which is probably in my top 3 Villa goals ever.

This. I wanted them to win tonight but let's not forget Juve are scum as well.

Bugger.

Juve absolutely did not deserve that.

Gutted for them.

Shit tosser of an English ref. Even over here they're saying no way was it a penalty, then the twat sends of Buffon.
Then, just one week after the world thinks he's not such a c**t, Ronaldo has no sense of what has just happened before him and removes his bloody shirt because as ever, he thinks it's all about him. Tosser.

Strange how he always wants to take the 5th penalty in a shoot out but suddenly grows a pair of balls when it's a decider. Classless c**t.

Buffon was sent for foul and abusive language, so we have to assume it was justified.
As for taking the decider, some players like the pressure and can cope with it, so will always take the 5th. That's a reason I bet most expected him to score tonight and in deciders. Aldridge always took the 5th as an example of another player that did it.

Of course, he could just be a twat.

I have resented them ever since 1983 ( I know, I know) but I thought they were unfortunate tonight. I was looking forward to extra time and maybe penalties. The last minute penalty was a 50:50 call which means the defender was giving the ref a really tough decision to make. After 10-12 views I couldn’t say with certainty it was a penalty, but would definitely have appealed for it for the Villa

Of course, he could just be a twat.

I think I'll stick with this theory.

I have to be careful what I say as I have a good mate who is very good friends with him.

I'd just love the opportunity to tell him to his face tonight; "Remember all those fans that applauded you last week for your goal? They all now think you're a c*nt".

I'm currently chatting away with an Italian  Juventus friend of mine who was at the game. He's not amused. What is amusing is watching him and the words that come out of his normal very quiet mouth when football is being played. Tonight I share his anger. They were robbed.
