I thought VAR was supposed to take the element of doubt out of decisions? On this occasion he's saw it initially and made the right decision. Gets pressured into reviewing it, views it a few times, confuses himself and then makes the wrong decision. All a bit farcical really.

Personally, I thought the player was already falling to the floor when Tarkowski trod on his foot. Makes me wonder what would have happened if the ball hadn't gone dead immediately after it - having a set piece gave the ref loads of time to think about whether or not to review.

Argentina taking an absolute kicking from Spain. Now 4-1

Messi OUT, oh no he didn't play Messi IN.

Spain 6 Argentina 1.

I didn't think it was a penalty in the England game.

Ivory Coast were 10/1 to beat Moldova and I thought that was a crazy price. I was going to stick a tenner on but didn't bother in the end. Ivory Coast 2 Moldova 1. Kicking myself.

On Saturday it was Sao Tome & Principe and tonight it is Curacao. It seems that every time there are international fixtures a new country pops up.

When the world cup draw was made a few self appointed experts were suggesting Panama would be a dark horse in our group. Losing 6-0 in Switzerland tonight suggests maybe not.

Maybe for now but I believe Brazil want him.

I know he’d have made a difference but Spain were simply spectacular. Argentina had a lot of top players playing and they got destroyed.

I think I am right in saying that Argentina only qualified for the World Cup by the skin of their teeth in a qualifying system that is very 'user friendly' to the likes of them and Brazil.

It's not really that friendly. Chile, the Copa America Winners, missed out as did decent teams like Paraguay and Ecuador.

Only Venezuela are always shite in that section, and there are no Liechtenstein-type teams to boost your goal difference against.

The Argies also have less home advantage than other teams as they don't play at particularly ridiculous altitude.

Asia and Concacaf are the only Federations that provide easy qualification. Even then, America still managed to fuck it up.

Admittedly I don't take much notice of international football and the last England I watched would be the Iceland match, didn't watch either of the recent matches but there are three players who played who I had to google as I had no idea who they were, Gomez, Cook and  Tarkowski.

Looking at yesterday's squad, I've also never heard of Pope or Mawson. I hope the former signs for Rangers at some stage.

Only reason I had heard of Pope was because Tony Livesey was talking about him on 5 Live at some stage and I googled him to see who he was. Pope, not Livesey. For some reason I knew Mawson plays for Swansea.

I knew who Gomez was as I Googled him to see who he was when he was called up to a previous England squad. Cook was the name that threw me this time around. I did actually know who Tarkowski was and who he played for.
