Wenger has overseen an unprecedented stretch of success in Arsenals history. Moreover, he changed the perception of the club from a bunch of 1-0 defending hoof-merchants that liked a heavy challenge to one of a great footballing side. Where were all these arsenal fans in the 80's? Who are they and where did they come from?

He'll be sacked if they don't win the Europa League.

There was one called in to Wrighty and Catesy earlier who said he was third generation arse, and that his grandfather, who'd passed away in '93, would be spinning in his grave at what is going on there now.

Tbh, mate, I think he'd more likely give you a slap, and tell you to count your blessings.

That's still bang on the money, although it's as applicable to countless other teams in these protracted days of ridiculous prices & utter bullshit.

ps 'Lovely to see (eco warrior) Dave Angel's 'Breakfast' was next up on my youtube feed. Booosh, waaaallop: let's get ready to rum-ble!  ;D

If a club of chelsea’s resources can’t compete with what man city have assembled, what’s the point of it all? Have man city won english football?

Any respect I had for them went out of the window when most of them couldn't even be arsed to hang around to see them collect the trophy in 2015.

Like any top 4 fanbase Arsenal fans are spoilt but let's remember when we were finishing 6th regularly it wasn't enough for many (including me).

Football fans generally will always wish for more from their club (especially if they're paying nearly 1k for a season ticket like many Arsenal fans do).

One thing I would say is the last 5 or so years will make me appreciate the better seasons when they eventually come round again.

To me I think it's quite clear that Wenger has clung on for way too long, possibly even by a decade. Everyone can see it seemingly apart from him and his bosses. Therefore I don't really think it's spoilt or deluded for Arsenal fans to point this out. Everything is relative in football and the shit some on here are giving then is just the same as when fans of other teams call us fickle for not wholeheartedly backing another shite manager, I.e. bollocks

I could never tire of watching Messi, easily the greatest player I’ve ever seen.
Me too. However I am warming up to Kane now ;)

For some reason it does just make me sad when I see Arsenal and Wenger like this. I just remember how breathtaking they were to watch in their invincibles era and it just grieves me to see them looking so ordinary and half arsed.
So in that sense I can understand why their fans are pissed off. I just think that given what Wenger has delivered they could try to show a bit more grace about it though.

I was speaking with a long term Arsenal fan yesterday about it, and he was clearly conflicted, both in terms of Wenger (a loyalty due to past glory, against clear befuddlement) and support for the club in general (occupying one of the lower strata of London’s workers he’s been priced out of more than the occasional visit, and keeping the wolf from the door has a much higher priority than Arsenal only being 6th).

No Tarquin.
