just seen the sending off incident

i'm not a Delph hater in fact quite the opposite but it looked to me a straight red,
i'm all for football being a contact sport but the guy is flying in from a distance away with his foot way of the ground cant see any other result than the one he got

Both guys were flying in, his foot wasn’t off the ground. Because he got there first the other guy got knocked over and made a meal of it. I think we need to get over the Delph hate on here - time to move on.

His foot is off the ground, studs up and not in control.

Fuck off Delph you thick ******.

It's a clear red, and there was absolutely no need to take a chance... attacking a Third Division player on the edge of his own penalty area, ninety yards from goal.

... in the 47th minute of the first half. Thick twat.

Him, Jermaine Jenas, Lescott...put them in a sack with 12 TB infected badgers, then pop them on the trebuchet and sling them into the night.

The fuckwit, albeit a very rich one, was further trying to ingratiate himself with city fans by showing how passionate he is. I hope it’s a 3 match ban.

Having seen a couple of videos posted on Twitter taken from the City end at the final whistle I kind of wish the police hadn't prevented some of their more lively support from meeting up with the Wigan youths on the pitch.

I hope he gets banned for the next three games which Man City would have bothered to select him for. He should be back in about 2023.

Jermain Jenas. He's what trebuchets were invented for. I cannot abide the little whopper.

I really detest him.

Yep, me too.

I recently had cause to do a little digging on Jenas and it seems he belongs to a PR company whose blurb goes thus:

"Founded in 2002 by Richard Thompson, M&C Saatchi Merlin is a creative talent management agency guiding and developing the careers of an eclectic roster of respected individuals."

Which is certainly a creative way of saying "Hire a wanker for ten grand!" If you're easily angered don't look them up. They're everything that's wrong with the modern world. (Yes I know, not as good as the old days, I remember when all this was fields, etc, etc.) But honestly, packaging Jenas as a media personality is like marketing mashed swede. Whatever you do with it it's still fucking mashed swede. Only difference is that mashed swede doesn't get paid a fortune to make everyone sick.

Isn't that Richard Thompson the bloke who had a very unsuccessful and unpopular spell in charge of QPR a number of years back? Possibly around the time a merger with Fulham was being considered.

As for Delph, I wasn't convinced it was a nailed on red. I reckon half the time he would have got away with a yellow. Which admitted says more about inconsistent referees than anything else.

did you not read the bit where I said I’m not a Delph hater ?
move on ffs....I’m one of the few on here that’s always tried to defend him

he was a great player for us and is a class player for MC now so my judgement wasn’t coloured by my any negative feelings for him, I’m glad he’s gone on to be the player I always thought he was

but looking at it I thought it was a red card offence, you thought differently that’s ok with me but i ain’t got no reason to be moving on anywhere mate

It's a fucking awful tackle. Off the ground, over the ball, studs showing. The fact that the entire City team swarms around the ref to protest just shows what an odious collection of pricks they've got. Nobody should want to see that done to another player, no matter what the score is or what's at stake.

It's a pity we didn't have VAR last night, the red card might not have been given (seems 50/50 opinion wise). Then all that nonsense at HT might not have happened, keeping a lid on a relatively tame atmosphere. City could've then strolled to a comfortable victory avoiding the pitch invasion and associated events.

Now that is the magic of the cup.
