Impressive refereeing I thought. Makes a change to say that.

I can't get my head round why the first penalty decision wasn't offside. ??? ???

Because Lovren made a deliberate and partially successful attempt to play the ball. Thus Kane couldn’t be offside.

Wasn’t he offside before Lovern touched it? Therefore, still offside when he did.

No because Kane hadn't touched it so he couldn't be offside ....yet.
At the point Kane played it, he would have been offside if Lovren hadn't touched it, but because he did, he wasn't.

What I can't get my head round is why it was a penalty when Lovren did play the ball and Harry Kane threw himself to the floor.

Because Lovren made a deliberate and partially successful attempt to play the ball. Thus Kane couldn’t be offside.

However, at the point when the Spurs player before Kane (whoever it was) knocked the ball forward (and before Lovren's attempted clearance), would Kane not have been interfering with play, and therefore could/should have been given offside?  This sequence of events seemed very different from lets say a defender playing a deliberate back pass.

That should be a pinned post.

Salah is my player of the season. His close control and dribbling, often all the way into the opponents box and resulting in a goal is not unlike Messi.

Life after Villa this week end was interesting..... Elphick off injured, Bacuna own goal, Ciaran Clarke gives away penalty
And Rudy Gestede gets sent off ! Any others I missed ?

He is incredible I would compare him more to Suarez.

I came back to tell after MOTD had finished and there is a silly game being shown. Have watched about 5 minutes of it and it doesn't make ant sense.

McLaren is an early favourite.  Please let it be so.
