I don't like arguing about football. And I don't like the fact that no visiting team had a penalty at Old Trafford for twenty years. VAR should be encouraged as it makes up for referees shiteing big decisions against media-beloved clubs. It maybe needs fine-tuning but it's worth persevering with.

Just have coaches' challenges like in NFL. Managers should be allowed to argue one decision per half and if they are proved incorrect they lose their challenge. That way you'll only see major decisions contested and the flow of the game won't be affected.

The trouble is though the precedent would be set as soon as its introduced. First it’d be one challenge, then two and so on and so on. Part of me thinks just leave things as they are. At least we’d have something to argue about afterwards.

Judging by the amount of posts arguing about VARs yesterday and today, there will still be arguments after a game.

Referees get enough grief now with players not accepting decision can you imagine the haranguing of official if VAR referral system was at Ref's choice?  If it is allowed it must be on the basis of Ref receiving instruction and NOT a referral from on pitch official.

A lot of that was down to the length of time it took to make a decision.

It’s still in the early stages so refs will become more efficient at using and implementing this. We will also become more used to seeing it. Part of the resistance is we are not used to seeing it.

The critical aspects will be obviously be where will it be used (types of decision), because that will be refined, how will it be used (manager challenge/4th ref challenge etc), and ultimately in key potentially result defining areas did it get it right?

Just thinking the same. He's definitely got a future in the game.

Interesting offside decision to disallow Citeh a second goal. Great finish but Sane definitely looked to be in the keeper's eyeline while standing offside.

Great goal not given. I assume it that it was for Sane was offside and in the way of the keeper, which he didn't seem to be. And 5 keepers wouldn't have saved it.
