Heard a Peterborough fan at the bar saying that the game was among his top three "Posh memories", too.

That’s great for him but had we won it would not have rated in any Villa fan’s top 300.

Not singling you out CD but there is a running theme on this site that under Bruce we are not good enough to compete with Derby or Wolves yet we are now bemoaning our approach in a cup where we are competing with Man City and Liverpool.

True, but it would have given us the chance to play in the next round where we might have seen a game that lived in the memory, by surrendering we don't get that chance.

I wasn't talking about Villa, really. Just contradicting the increasingly-believed truism that nobody cares about the cup.

Fans of Forest, Coventry, Peterborough, Newport, etc have all had a weekend they'll never forget, just as we did when we knocked Liverpool out. If we'd have beaten Arsenal 4-2 on Sunday, I'd have been in a good mood all week.

There are plenty of forgettable games in the league.

Ask anyone who was there, their greatest villa match witnessed and they will most likely tell you Villa 4 Manure 6.  Took place in 1948, not in the league but in the third round of the FA Cup.  According to my old man, it was the greatest game he ever saw and said it had everything, good defending notwithstanding 😀.  58k there to see it too.  That's what the FA Cup can do for any club, to dilute it and disrespect its priority is, IMO, folly.

Look at Bristol sitting back and hanging on for dear life at the Etihad.  Or alternatively they’ve had a right good go and deservedly lead.

Does it go to replay or extra time if drawn at regular FT?

It's the semi so it's 2 legs.
