It seemed an excellent use of the advantage  rule to me.

Danish dynamite. I was surprised at how much better than Ireland Denmark were. Eriksen being the major difference in terms of quality.

Well another 180 minutes of football and no goals scored by England however clean sheets can't moan at that.

I reckon this is how the seeds will look for the Finals, with FIFA having announced that there will be four pots of seeds this time. They will also still have it set up so that each group will only have a maximum of two European teams and one team from any of the other continents.

Pot 1:
Russia, Germany, Brazil, Portugal, Argentina, Belgium, Poland, France.

Pot 2:
Spain, England, Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay, Switzerland, Croatia, Peru/Denmark*

Pot 3:
Egypt, Iran, Costa Rica, Tunisia, Senegal, Iceland, Sweden, Denmark/Serbia*

Pot 4:
Panama, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Nigeria, Morocco, Serbia/New Zealand*, Australia/Honduras**

*if Peru win their playoff, they will be second seeds, Denmark will be third seeds and Serbia will be fourth seeds. If New Zealand win, they will be fourth seeds, Denmark will be second seeds and Serbia will be third seeds.

**the winner of the Australia v Honduras playoff will be fourth seeds.

Worst possible draw for England:
Brazil
England
Denmark
Nigeria

Best possible draw:
Poland
England
Iran
Panama

Yeah that was kind of shocking. Regardless of the quality of the ROI players MON had a bad game here.

Fair play to Southgate for successfully giving the 'young and hungry' a chance against the likes of Germany and Brazil. When Lambert did it with us we just managed to make every team we played look like Germany and Brazil.

The crazy world of international football. Nigeria win 4-2 away to Argentina (I presume it was played in Argentina, you never know these days) and Wales draw with Panama. I don't think I have ever previously heard of Panama in a football context.

It was very sensibly played in Russia. Agueroooooooooo fainted at half time.

The Argentina match was in Krasnodar, Russia. Makes sense to try to acclimatise, I guess.

His half time change to replace both central midfielders beggared belief. Denmark and Eriksen predictably ran riot as a result. The FAI's decision to extend his contract before the playoffs looking very foolish now. MON is most definitely not the man to develop players and a team. Unlike at club level, he isn't able at international level to go out and buy his way out of trouble.

There was one team trying to play football and another charging around and chasing the ball.
Poor plan A and no plan B.

They qualified for the World Cup.

Just a question, but why would Poland be seeded higher than England?
