I thought Bruce managed the game well today which I couldn't say ar all during the bleak spell in January.

When Baker went off I assumed Elphick would come on but switching Jedinak back was the right decision as he commanded their forwards.

Not sure if Sasso deserved a red as I haven't seen it back yet,  but we'd done pretty well before that and the defence kept them at arm's length for most of the game.

They didn't need to change kit but at least the garish combination was more original than the awful bland black kits that most teams turn up with.

Walking to the ground a coach load of Wednesday fans emptied and quickly started singing "I'd rather be a Paki than a Blade". On a UK Street, in 2017. Wankers.

I heard a group of Villa fans singing this on a train back from London after the Spurs cup game (swap Blade for Nose...)
Every team has its idiots. I was on the train from witton to new street after the game. A villa fan on the opposite platform was making wa**er signs at a family of Wednesday fans in our carriage whist swigging a bottle of rosé.

Rose..sets us apart from other fans.

I thought Mile Jedinak was the best centre half we have had this season.

Good win.

Shame team is about 10 points short of where we should be. If we were on 58 points I'd massively fancy us to make the play offs.

All points lost right at the start of the season and in the awful January-Feb period.

That's why despite our issues this season I really don't think we're far away. We will be up there next season.

Thought Johnstone was excellent today, think it's time to put aside his first few games & the fact he is someone else's player because I suspect he will have another years loan here ahead....key is to get a back up better than Bunn who can be used in case he has another iffy spell.  Contrast him to Westwood who is 'rated' at other end who looked vastly inferior to Johnstone today.

For me midfield closed down well & let Bannan have the ball in largely unthreatening areas.  Missed Lansbury's range of passing so was a midfield of work rate rather than creation.

Defensively pretty secure, Taylor as a defender is a huge upgrade on Amavi, who in turn is starting to get to grips with the advanced role.

Jedinak can't pass water but boy is he the most important player in the team, was good in midfield, was excellent at centre back.

Bree & Hutton good down right side.

Kodjia & Adamoh considering there were goals and assists in them still don't work hard enough closing down opponents for me, we aren't good enough for passengers and must learn to defend from front & similarly must learn to hold up ball better.

Still pedestrian with the ball but we have a team working better as a team.

Is that 12 points from 15?

Bruce hang on a bit!
FFS don't start that sort of talk.

Bruce out!

Beat me to it. What self respecting Villa fan would drink it, especially when Thunderbird is still on the shelves.

Do have a slight worry that we'll end the season well and then a top flight team will nab Kodija off us. Mind you, hopefully Hogan will be firing by then.

I wouldn't let that worry you at all to be honest.

I'm still not sold on Johnstone to be honest.  Thought he was decent in the air, but didn't really have many saves to make and his kicking was all over the place again.

I would hope we get better in the summer and have Steer as back up.

Sounds like a good win and seems the confidence is returning. Just what we needed. I've only seen the highlights posted on here, so difficult to judge the quality of the match from that. We couldn't have asked more than a comfortable win against a top 6 side and another clean sheet. Here's hoping the corner really has been turned. Decent turnout aswell 31k.

Hopefully it's onwards and upwards now. We've got the best form in the league points-wise over the last 5 games. Be nice to maximise what we can get from the last 9 matches.

Rosé Domaine Villa 'La Vie en Rose'

You shouldn't 'swig' it though. Or call people wankers.
