David Weir joins Villa

Here until the summer by the sounds of it.

DAVID WEIR has clinched a quick-fire return to football after joining Aston Villa’s scouting team.

The former Rangers No2 will link up with ex-Everton pal Steve Round at Villa Park in a temporary role until the end of the season.

It’s understood Weir, 46, offered his services to the Championship side.

However, the former Gers skipper is keen to return to management this summer.

Weir – who spent five and a half years at Rangers as a player – left Ibrox in controversial circumstances last month.

The club announced that they had accepted the resignations of boss Mark Warburton, head of recruitment Frank McParland and Weir.

But Warburton denied handing in his notice and has been instructed to wage war with the Light Blues board for compensation totalling £1million plus.

McParland has since been appointed director of football at Nottingham Forest, where the former Gers management trio had previously been linked.

I thought he was still playing for a moment, in his dotage still possibly preferable to Richards and Samba.

Seems a bit pointless if he wants to leave by next transfer window.

I hope we don't end up paying him to scout players for Nottingham Forest where he's rumoured to be going in the summer with Warburton.

On the other hand, when you consider that they have two of our players on loan already and whose wages we are largely paying, this could be a  move worthy of Dr. No stroking his cat. The rest of The Championship will wonder what the fuck is going on, and if we are are going to to fuck with them next.

We take Barnsley's players and they beat us, we take Brentford'sbbest player and they beat us, but we don't care. Couldn't give a feather or a fig in the year of The Cock. We take Forrest's best player when the whole world says it is impossible to transact with that club.

This is Sting Ray time. Anything can happen in the next half hour.

I can perhaps understand your dislike/hatred of Rangers, but what's your problem with Weir?

Has anybody noticed that we are not performing as well since he arrived at the club?

As Weir is a mate of Round, looks more like a job for his mate to keep him earning a few quid until the end of season.
