Agreed, very succinctly (and starkly) put.

Not so sure on the 89/90-aping run though. 14 more wins would surely have us comfortably in the play-offs (even if it's the mootest of points).

It would be 14 if we include Derby! Depressing to think we've made such a mess of this season that even ending with 14 straight wins may not be enough to make the play-offs.

Well written Dave. Didn't a lot of the 57 Cup final team end up with dementia ?  Would be a great gesture if clubs donated money to help with research, fat chance of that I guess.

Just reading today ex Liverpool player Tommy Smith is suffering from alzheimers, very sad.
