Huddersfield Town - "new" ground

Very typical of the new stadia built around the same time.  Resembles the Wigan's effort although to be fair the concourse is not as tight.

They have gradually built the ground up adding a stand after the initial build.

Like Wigan it has a number of ale houses and the famous St Georges Tavern at the station (the birth place of chase the egg - rugby league).

The ground is ever closer to the town centre which is in walking distance from the old Leeds Road which was just further down the same road and if you are lurch then within touching distance.  Atmosphere wise - dead. 

Looks like they are on heat at the moment and sitting pretty in the play off positions.  A lot of better teams seem to struggle there so am not expecting a great deal, at least a point though please.

One thing we hold in common with them we all hate Leeds.

A tad unfair to say that it resembles Wigan's ground and is typical of the new stadia of the time. This was the first example of the new style of "banana" stands and was built years before Wigan copied it. It won all sorts of design awards when it was first built.

Whats  the difference between them?  Even the colour scheme is identical.  Both walkable from the town centre, they  look like twin grounds from the inside and both have dodgy pitches  due to rugby being played on the grass.

Last time I went got the train over, could see the ground but wasn't sure of quickest route. My son was the mascot for Barca B who were playing a pre season friendly and spotted a bloke in a Barcelona shirt so thought would follow him as he was heading in the direction of the ground. We followed him as far as Tesco car park, he was on his way to do his weekly shop.

Really good record shop opposite the railway station.
