We are 161/5 with a run run rate of 2.09 Umeed has scored 58 from 238 balls.
I am here, but there are not many others.

Surely at this time of year, it doesn't get dark enough for the lights to take full effect? Surely they could have had the round of day nighters in April/May

The reasoning behind the experiment is that it will prepare English players for the day night games against Australia.

From our point of view, playing earlier games at the extremes of the square with short boundaries and then playing away for almost 2 months has done us no favours at all.

Good to see Umeed get a ton, at least, but given the weather forecast we seem to be playing for a draw.

I thought we would be fucked after watching  our opening game at the Oval.

Most of the Surrey members were saying Bell was never a captain.

Warwickshire County Cricket Club has signed Yorkshire all-rounder and former England Under 19s captain Will Rhodes on a two-year contract, starting at the end of the current playing season.

Rhodes (22) has played 19 First Class games and was part of Yorkshire’s County Championship-winning team in 2015. He has also made 21 List A and 18 T20 appearances and has been part of the professional ranks at Yorkshire for four years.

[Ashley Giles"]Will is a genuine all-rounder and very exciting cricketer, who has the versatility to bat anywhere from one to seven in the batting order whilst also being a strong addition to our seam bowling attack.

In 2014 he captained England to third place in the Under 19s World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, where he took eight wickets and scored 187 runs.

Ashley Giles, Sport Director at Warwickshire CCC, said: “Will is a genuine all-rounder and very exciting cricketer, who has the versatility to bat anywhere from one to seven in the batting order whilst also being a strong addition to our seam bowling attack.

“He is a great character with leadership experience, as a former captain of England U19s and Yorkshire Academy. At 22 he has a good future ahead of him and we are delighted to welcome him to Warwickshire CCC.”
Will Rhodes said: “I’m very excited to sign for Warwickshire for the next two years and to take this next step in my career with a club that has also has such a proud history and outstanding facilities. I’ve had some great discussions with Ashley Giles and the coaching team at Edgbaston and I look forward to joining up with the squad very soon.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my 12 years in the set-up at Yorkshire, particularly my last four years as a professional. My thanks go to all players, coaches and staff for their support and I wish them the very best for the future.”

[/quote]

From George Dobell. "He is not likely to be the last of their acquisitions, though they will have more scope for movement at the end of 2018 when over £1m of the annual wage bill will be freed up by players out of contract."

Pleased with the signing of Rhodes, could be the next Tim Bresnan.

Though I could see it being dampened slightly if Clarke's departure is announced shortly.

Think Rhodes will be a good signing for you guys.

Unfortunately as a Pear I suspect this winter will see the start of the mad scramble for players wanting to be aligned with location counties for the T£0's competition.

Lamcs now 134/2 after a slow and shaky start. They they  are the more likely winners, with a draw being favourite. Having said that Rankin jusy got Davies caught on 79.

If the bears can get rid of Chanderpaul tonight and get a couple more on top this can still be interesting, the lead is only 120 and a couple now could see us clear them out for 200.

Not a drop of rain at Edgbaston today. The weather forecast did for the attendance and it was fucking freezing on the Sky Line.

Any result is possible, but the signs ate that swing and seam are not very effective after 20 overs with this pink ball and I expect Lancs to set us a difficult target.

A draw. Plenty of rain today! At least the Bears are off the bottom of the table!

Will surely signal the end for Clark?  An opening batsman and bowler next please Ash.

I'd imagine so. Although I'd rather he stuck around, just with less reliance placed on him given his age etc.

Looks like an opener/top-order batsmen is also a target, as I read that we missed out on Kohler-Cadmore to Yorks, and also tried to sign Bell-Drummond from Kent.

What a stunner from my team. Another win and extend our lead at the top of the table ;).

Harmer has become unplayable the last couple of weeks. 8 and 9-wicket hauls in a couple of innings recently. Coupled with Mohammed Amir, Essex could have a real shot at a shock title win.

Sounds like Olly Stone is close to playing for the 1st team - will  probably make his debut in the T20. Him, at 23, and Rhodes, 22 are the future. Thornton also looks a good prospect - why didn't he play against Lancs, injury?

Watched him practicing on the pitch during one of the intervals on Wednesday and he looked pretty sharp, although he had strapping which looked like a cast on his right arm.
