Most of those Kolpaks are long-term signings, they've signed 2-3 year contracts and given up on playing for South Africa so there's no reason they won't extend those contracts either.

Unbelievable that a club our size, which has had the amount of investment in the ground and facilities it has over the last few years, abandoned the playing side and would just accept relegation.

Chanderpaul as an example must be about 50 though - I know there is an argument that a seasoned international player brings all sorts of benefits to the younger players but we have some of those already. Someone like Abbott (Kyle not Diane, though she may improve the squad) would have been good, but i guess Hants are loaded and we are not.

Our bowlers are always injured (including our signing from Northants), and the batting is very light. It seems as though combined with the ageing squad we are heading for Div 2.

Yorkshire have confirmed the signing of Tom Kohler-Cadmore on a three-year deal after he was released from his contract by Worcestershire.

The Tykes announced they had agreed a move for the 22-year-old a week ago, after the batsman told Worcestershire he wanted to leave at the end of the season when his contract expired.

Kohler-Cadmore averages 48.40 in the County Championship so far this summer.

He is now available for Yorkshire with immediate effect.

"Obviously it was a massive decision to move home and I find it incredibly exciting," Kohler-Cadmore told Yorkshire's club website.

"I'm really looking forward to getting stuck in and part of my decision to move was to challenge and test myself in what is a great environment and a very strong squad. Hopefully this will help me improve and push me on to higher levels."

In a statement Worcestershire chief executive Tom Scott said: "Worcestershire County Cricket Club have mutually agreed with Tom Kohler-Cadmore and his representative of the immediate release from his contract with the club.

"We would like to thank Tom for the contribution he has made at New Road and wish him continued success in the future."

Kohler-Cadmore, who was dropped for Worcestershire's last Championship match against Sussex after saying he wanted to leave New Road, impressed the Tykes first hand in May.

He hit five sixes and 10 fours in his match-winning 118 against Yorkshire at New Road to help propel Worcestershire into the One-Day Cup semi-finals.

Kohler-Cadmore also caught the eye in May last year when he hit the fastest century of the 2016 season - a stunning 127 off 43 balls against Durham in the T20 Blast at New Road, breaking Graeme Hick's 12-year-old record T20 score for the county.

He came through the junior system at Yorkshire before going to boarding school in Worcestershire at Malvern College.

Under the terms of the deal, Kohler-Cadmore will not be eligible to play against Worcestershire in 2017, meaning he will not face them in the One-Day Cup semi-final should Yorkshire beat Surrey in their quarter-final on 13 June.

The investment in the ground has certainly been at the expense of the playing side.

I back Giles to turn it around though but will take a few seasons to achieve it.

Brilliant finish at Taunton, Yorkshire beat Somerset by 3 runs. Couldn't find commentary but kept refreshing the page, looked like Somerset were going to manage it but Sidebottom took three quick wickets and Lyth the final one.

Final wicket was caught at mid wicket, with some debate as to whether it carried!

Not sure why the batsman didn't walk, it clearly carried, he appeared to catch it just below waist height, maybe thought he played it into the ground?

Moeen & Hastings are available for Pears/Rapids semi final in Sat....  unfortunately so will Roy for Surrey & it's fair to say he might be looking to take out his frustrations :-)

Need Mo & Hastings massively to pep up the squad after a couple of very iffy championship games.

I'm off to New Road tomorrow for the Worcs V Surrey Semi (I'm a Warwicks fan, but long story).

Glad to see Moeen and John Hastings return as I think it may have been quite one-sided if not, especially now Kohler-Kadmore has left Worcs.

Seems the form tapered off a couple of weeks early, need to re-group for a couple of championship games now as Moeen is available.

Wonder if the teams who played the quarter finals actually had a bit of an advantage of a competitive 50 over game to lead into the semis?

A good(ish) day for The Bears today. Need to take the last 5 wickets before lunch and set about trying to lay the platform for the victory hat we are starting to desperately need.

The sixth wicket will fall at about 4pm, they'll declare on 550, leaving them just enough of the day left to take three Bears wickets before we reach twenty runs.

Well that's the likely outcome. 20-3 will become 44-7, will become 89 all out. We'll bat resolutely int he  nd innings and reach a promising 189-2, but the fall of the 3rd wicket will see us all out for 224.
