Preston manager Alex Neil “Fans have got really short memories. Before Steve took over I came here with Norwich and it was poisonous. He took all that poison and changed it and got them to the play-offs.”

The only game that Neil managed Norwich at VP was the 2-0 win under Garde when things still hadn't turned.

I don't condone the vile abuse or vegetable tossing, but at this point it is a reflection of the fans' frustration at the apparent lack of activity from the owners and ceo. Bruce should not be in this position in the first place, though he is partly culpable as he could also have resigned.

We need our AWOL senior execs to do their jobs and pull the trigger asap. I now expect them to do it after Saturday which is way, way too late for me. They are allowing a toxic atmosphere to develop and there may be fallout from the delay.

I think there is the danger that he will do some real damage to team cohesion and player morale the longer he stays on.

I sort of agree with the comments about personal abuse but the flip side of that is that there's been plenty of reasonably constructive criticism, highlighting specific flaws and he's dismissed it with an attitude that people who haven't played the game at the top level don't know what they're talking about. If we hadn't had 2 years of excuses over the same problems week after week with him dismissing the concerns as hysteria or just coming from the 'mad' then it might not have got to this point.

The cabbage thing is clearly ridiculous and any physical threats should be dealt with severely but moaning about a lack of class because people are calling him useless and adding a swear word or 2 is taking it too far, for me.
Are you saying reasonably constructive criticism on Twiiter, or screamed at him from the stands during match days?  Or are you expecting him to come on here to debate tactics?

What manager has ever responded to fan criticism with dialogue and discussion?

There's no flip side Paul, the personal abuse is disgusting and unacceptable.

I'm saying that when he gets asked about criticism and he comes out with shit like "I've got 20 years experience and 4 promotions" he isn't doing himself any favours if he then doesn't address the problems. Generally most people (not all, some will have gone straight calling him names) only become abusive if they feel it's the only way to get the point across that he's failing.  I'm not saying it's right (or wrong) to call someone a c**t but I am saying that calling it disgusting and unacceptable (or various other terms from the last few pages) or saying it makes our fans show a lack of class is pushing into the realms of the permanently offended and ignoring the reality that football crowds will always go a little personal at times.

Is it disgusting that crowds sing the ref is a wanker all across the country when decisions go against them? What about the whole "ahhhhhhh, you fat bastard" when a tubby keeper takes a goal kick? Can you honestly say you've never sworn at anyone when they've done something you're not happy with? My point here is just how far does your moral outrage extend?  As I said, threats, physical violence, vegetable throwing are all crossing a line but complaining over phrases like 'useless fat c**t' is taking it too far.

You have to agree with bruce about society going to pot. I mean there's areas of Birmingham i won't set foot in anymore because of the dangers of vegatable related crime.  Friend had his car broken into last week and apart from the radio being nicked, he was more upset with having to clear up the cauliflower they used to smash the window.
Walking through the park last night I felt very scared with so much vegetation around. At one time a birch twig came menacingly in my direction but luckily I managed to avoid it however some leaves made a tight mess of my shoes.

There is an argument for waiting for the international break BUT the team is in a terrible state, It is one game at Milwall and imo we have as much chance of picking something up without him, probably more as the fans would be back on side and the players usually react positively  when they know they will have a new management team to impress.

Bearing in mind we have a new DOF incoming, why not give Delaney the reigns for Milwall and for as many games after until we have the right manager appointed.

You never know, we could have the next Eddie Howe currently coaching our U23's. What have we got to lose?

Its Mark Delaney with the under 23's
Not sure he would want the main job though

(I've been wrong before, many, many times)

What is interesting is that it is the old British/English luvvie wagon train.
Have any ‘foreign’ managers or coaches come out in support of him?
