I suppose you can still sack him at any time but there will always be 1 years salary payable?

Presumably a clause must exist whereby either party can give the other 6/3/1 month's notice of termination of the contract. Not that I think for a second that that's happened.

1 year rolling means notice period will be 1 year, thats the point of it, ie if you want rid quicker you have to pay 1 year.

So, if you were in possession of a really expensive manager this time last year and we started as bad as we did, might you possibly have served the statutory notice period of 1 year and said "Dont worry Steve, its a fomality just in case we don;t go up, get us up and we'll renew it obviously"

I would .......

Fits with the Bruce expression when Hourihane scored - looked like a man seeing any sort of payoff disappearing.
And his post match presser.

Gonna be Henry .....mark my words !!!!

You might be right. I was basing my point on the fact that I once worked for a company on a 6 month FTC, but they were C-words and I had the provision to lave early by giving them 1 month's notice as per any other employee.

I could be way off. I'm not a hot shot football manager. Then again, neither is Steve Bruce.

I think the average football contract wouldn't include a shorter notice period for the employee ie manager to give, on the grounds that if they were (by a miracle) any good, that would negate a lot of the compensation they might hope for if another club came knocking.

I think Bruce is serving out his notice period, maybe in the promise of a payoff if he doesnt make waves

Good point!

I cannot, for one second, believe that Bruce his working a notice period.
I’d dearly love it to be the case but it just doesn’t happen in football.

Eventually, the owners will decide (realise) he is no longer fit for purpose and he’ll be sacked and will leave with a massive amount of compo, basically for failing.
Just as it’s always been.

The only question is when is ‘eventually’ ?

I was told by someone who claims to have a mate on the inside -yes I know but I'll take anything right now- that his contract was up end of October so November the 1st could be the big day. (Clutching straws so hard I've got blisters)
That’s not plausible. Surely we would just pay him for the month and tell him to drive off in the sunset?

Waif and Strays is a good description of the squad Warnock put together it is no where no the reality of what Bruce has had ..60K on Terry a week , Snodgrass and a chunk of his huge salary paid ...utter shit AND once again he moves the conversation to that Summer and avoids the 20 mil he spent in Jan 17.He does this because other than Houriane the other buys have done very little and he has replaced all of them with more signings ..

Possibly but depends on the contract.
Is it implausible the contract has a significant playoff clause if terminated early?

Have reason to believe Henry waiting in the wings

Actually, I do think that he thinks we are stupid.

I’m not so sure. I think he’s just stupid himself.

Henry was introduced to a friend at a kids birthday party  in Lichfield within the last 2 weeks. I was sceptical at first but person involved an Arse fan, knew who he was and no reason to make it up. Unless there's some other reason he would be up here?

Dafuuuuuuq? If he was at a kid's birthday party, I'd hope it's not just cos he thinks he can crash literally anything local cos he's got the Villa job.

An Arsenal fan who knew who Thierry Henry was?

No way.

Visiting the cathedral maybe?  Seems like a popular thing to do these days.  I still think Terry might be the new manager if Bruce goes.

Dunning-Kruger effect.

In the field of psychology, the Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which people of low ability have illusory superiority and mistakenly assess their cognitive ability as greater than it is. The cognitive bias of illusory superiority comes from the inability of low-ability people to recognize their lack of ability; without the self-awareness of metacognition, low-ability people cannot objectively evaluate their actual competence or incompetence

Thank you for making me look that up...

If some of the far fetched stuff on here,  this is the best yet. Thierry Henry, who lives in London, brought his kids to a birthday party in Lichfield, because he is waiting in the wings to take over at VP while Bruce works out his notice period.

So plausible.

I thought mossman had auto corrected the Freddie Kruger Effect.  A well known condition that enables the best forward buying of pumpkins at this time of year.  I put the algorithm into my business model and it told me not to bother.
