After the Brentford game he stood there taking the plaudits and smugly telling the world that this was how the team should play and had planned for it and he finally had the players available to him to play that way.

How come we have been NOWHERE, absolutely nowhere  near that level of performance since, not even close to it for a few minutes in any game ?

Seems to me that the Brentford game was despite Bruce, not because of him.

I’ll sound like a broken record but the Brentford performance wasn’t even that good. Just marginally better than the usual bilge.

One of the Sky commentators referred to it as scintillating or breathtaking (or some ridiculous description.) I do wonder how these people keep their jobs.

More to the point, if he is seriously creaming himself about a 2-2 draw at home to bloody Brentford it’s no wonder we are where we are

So the good performances you can count on one hand?

What gets my goat the absolute most, is the bloke is fundamentally a liar.

He lied about Grealish being out for 6 months last year. He lied about John Terry being out for 3 months. He lied when he said we were 2nd from bottom when he took over 2 years ago. He makes stuff up.

Incidentally, Cardiff were effing’ bottom when he took the Villa job. Now look where they are. The bloke is a politician and someone in the press needs to start nailing him.
Weirdly I have said almost identical to this today. Fake news that man

End game time now for Brucey. 6/6 is the only way he stays for another few weeks now. If we drop any points in the next 6 days then I am very very confident we will have a new manager for Bristol city away

He did sound quite worried about his job in his interview with WM after the match. First time I’ve heard him like that. Perhaps he realises our new owners are ruthless businessmen who won’t take much more shit from him?

Have a look at his face/reaction when Hourihane scored. The face of a man who swerved a near death.
He was set a minimum target of 7/9 out of the next 3. Anything less than two wins in the next 6 days and he’s toast

Since they came in he has looked panicked, right from the pre season games.

Round and Wireless are gone, so he has few allies amongst the top brass. He probably knows they have their own ideas and it is only the timing of the takeover that kept him in the role.

A strange thing happened on Saturday we played at left back we played a right back at right back and we played a central defender well you get it. Now this isn't Bruce logic so I have a feeling the owners have made their feelings known, the look on Bruces face when Hourihane scored was something to behold if ever a man was given a short last minute reprieve it was him.

To give him targets to save his job was a weak thing to do, if indeed that is what has happened.  He should have gone when the club was sold.

The thing that has struck me recently is his transfer business. Hourihane is limited, but in relation to him, the odd thing is why has he spent money replacing the likes of him and Adomah as priorities? Our two top scorers and 2 of the main reasons we got to the play-offs last season dumped when you'd think the priority would be other positions. You think he'd be looking at the likes of a replacement for Terry or the players on their way out like Jedinak and Whelan. And again look at the squad and there's loads of crap like Lansbury and Hogan that it would make more sense replacing with someone who can at least challenge for a 1st team place. If he'd promoted the youth it would be a touch more understandable but if anything he's binned them. I'm not Hutton's greatest fan , but he's adequate, and again, a 2nd left back is more important than having two centre halves? i'd have thought you'd get a left-back on loan and buy a centre half, rather than spending our limited funds in that direction. As it is we've got a new keeper, a new striker and a snodgrass replacement which are at least logical, but two of them are loans. Don't you spend money on permanent signings in positions where we have no-one  and the loans come in where you want to provide competition? To me in the summer the priorities were a permanent 'keeper, centre half, and a Snodgrass replacement. We've got one of them, but hey lets throw money at replacing Adomah and Hourihane. Mental

I'd say they gave it a set time scale rather than targets. Maybe the new owners  sat down and decided to give it till the end of this month and review it then, I don't know. With Xia going, it does only seem like a matter of time.

The thing I just can’t get my head around is Steve Round coming in as DoF, seemingly having good ideas about how to set up the clubs football operation, developing a style and identity from youth to 1st team, front foot football, Villa Engine and yet the one big decision he had whilst in post was RDMs replacement and after considering all the above he thought Steve Bruce was the answer. It’s absolutely baffling. Yet another one who talked a good progressive game but was severely lacking.

It's the Stability Myth in action AV82EC.  It has been dragging us down ever since Randy Lerner was told about Relegation and shit his pants.

Blues, Wolves and Cardiff, all at home, were the most competent and complete performances under Bruce so far.
