I don't think being nice comes into it really. To do the job properly you have to command a certain respect and be ruthless at times whether your a nice person or not. Ron Saunders came over as a bit of a hard bastard to me but i never believed that was his entire personality. Only one who strikes me as being a complete bastard was MON. i think our biggest downfall with managers post-MON and pre-Bruce with the honourable exception of Houllier perhaps has been characters unwilling or unable to go into the boardroom and question the club's overall direction. Edit: I'd probably include Bruce in that as well.

Can’t be long before he ‘loses the dressing room’.

With the pace he is throwing his players under the proverbial bus, it can't be more than a week or two.
It started with his comments after the Yeovil match where he singled out the young players with his "proper football " twaddle. The man's a twunt.
Since he's been here he's often used that line when talking individually about players from the academy (normally when he loans them out). It could be possible he hasn't the skill set to nurture, develop and manage the younger players breaking into the first team (although Davis, Green and Jack have all come through during his reign - that's a debate right there?). It's a real shame for us he didn't learn more from Alex Ferguson on that front.
I think Jacks development is down to Jacks genuine quality that was always there and is now beginning to flurish rather than anything Bruce has done. Bruce just got lucky IMO that he happened to have Jack on the books

I agree. I also think he only put Davis in as a last resort (as there was no other option) and fell lucky with the system and upturn in form as a result. I don't think it was down to foresight or planning on his part.

I think he had lost it already after the play off final

It's about time we had a journalist do his job and ask Bruce some questions to explain his thinking, instead of being fed bullshit and going along with his stories.

1. What made you persist with Mile Jedinak at center back despite examples during the previous season that he wasn't up to it?
2. After trailing a left back for most of the window why did you decide to do without one and instead play a right back there?
3. What is the thinking behind loaning a younger player and then shunting him out to a position where we already have 4 players that can cover that spot?
4. Do you think going in to the season with a solitary center back in the entire squad is wise? If so why?

I don't want to hear anymore excuses about turmoil in the summer, players at the world cup, players not pulling their boots on, refs, individual errors, luck, losing players from the play off final, John Terry, leaders, anything. I want to hear the fat c*** explain why the defense is a mish mash fuck up of the highest order and looks like conceding every time the opposition step foot in our half and what the reasoning behind those decisions are because to the outsider it looks like he has lost his grip on reality and constructed the most lopsided squad I've ever seen down the Villa.

He's failed massively and deserves the sack.

Too right about the journalists. Their questions are about as probing as a cuckolded husband asking his wife if she had an enjoyable evening last night.

The one uestion is: have the owners and the new CEO got the bollocks to sack him?  Do they back themselves to bring in someone better? Or, do they honestly think they have the best man for the job?

I hope they do not think they have the best man for the job, I hope they realise what he is, and get rid as soon as possible.

You don't get to be where they are without. Purslow can be a bastard too.

The question is whether they think it's time or not.

I think they have the wherewithal to sack him, but that's different to whether they will or not. It's primarily a business decision - how much will it cost the longer we wait? I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen tomorrow, but if it doesn't that doesn't mean they're not close to doing it.

I guess they may not do it until the new guy is lined up. No point giving him the bullet and causing more uncertainty.

Not sure what advice Sir Brian is giving.

Perhaps he could hold the reins for a bit until they find the right man? Sir Brian & Sid double act. Couldn't be any worse than the current plonkers.

I think he will survive for now.  We may be putting out feelers but i doubt we've got anyone lined up. I see him beating blackburn and rotherham so that will keep him in a job till at least the end of September sadly.

I'd be quite happy if we win  our next two matches.
