Compare and contrast

Guardiola in March - “Are we tired? Fuck you. Are we tired? Fuck you. Champions are not tired”.

Bruce in August - “The schedule is ridiculous. How are we supposed to play so many games just as we are trying to build our way into the season “.

Quite clear that Bruce is  not interested in the cups at the present time.  I am astonished that so many people actually thought we would be going on a cup run of any discription.  Steve Bruce should be judged on our league form and currently we are 4th so lets wait and see.

I posted on the match thread that I firmly believe that there is an essence of Eric Black about Bruce and his team selections.  I believe he knows he's gone and is being obtuse in his team selections, wrong players picked, correct players wrong positions etc.  I've read all the arguments of both sides for keeping Bruce, but this again tonight, is unforgivable.  New CEO or not, he's got to be told to pack his stuff.  He can proffer all the excuses he wants but it's obvious to me that he cares little or nothing for Aston Villa or its supporters.

After tonight I think you might be onto something Dave.  I previously thought he was just clueless, but this latest team selection was so baffling that the only other logical explanation is that he's doing this deliberately. Clueless or malicious, either way it's unacceptable.

Are there any rumours about a DoF or CEO?  It's getting tedious to say the least with Bruce in charge and I suspect one or both may the catalyst for change.

Why should a manager dictate what he’s judged on?

Yes our form has already started to slide. We’ve also had a very easy start.

Is that what Bruce said?! Why does he speak as if the performance is nothing to do with him? Doesn't he realise that makes him look even more inept?

Simply for all the talent we have we are poorly trained.

Everyone knows SB is cut from the cloth of MON, Warnock, only turns up for training towards end of the week.

So you have to look at roles of Calderwood, Clemence and Agnew.

Calderwood does the defence (not a great success so far this season), Agnew works with the forwards (there was improvement when he first came in but we're back relying on individual moments now). No idea what Clemence role is.

I imagine the owners will be vetting everyone's roles and will be thinking three coaches when many clubs get by with two assistants to the manager isn't great value for money considering our performances on the pitch.

He’s just got to go. Not because of tonight’s rubbish, but for two years of failure. Books  could be written on how he’s underachieved so astonishingly at our club, given the resources at his disposal.
