there are those who will defend Bruce every day to the death no matter what (we all know who they are)
and those like me who wanted him out before he even got here (we all know who they are)

and then those who sit between those two opposing views and keep judging him on a game to game basis

i think everything changed when the new owners took control, they come from different stock than that prat Wyness and inexperienced Xia,

i look at Bruce now as no more than a interim manager
he is no where near good enough for what they want, not even close
its only a matter of time before they shake the whole thing up and there's nothing anyone on this site can or could ever do about it

that's the way i see it, and however long it takes so be it
 but it will happen imo

The trouble is, if we don’t go up this season, FFP will become even more of an issue next season. They’ve clearly been through the books and done what they can this year, but you can only do that once. Next year will be the first with no parachute payments at all and everything becomes even harder then.

Yep. We absolutely have to go up this season. My fear is that we've already blown it by retaining Bruce over the summer (not necessarily that Henry moment a fortnight before the season started, but before that). For us to change in the way we needed to we'll have needed a great manager to come in and do the pre-season - we all saw what not having a pre-season did the year we went down - and that will have already set the tone for this season.

I'm not sure chopping and changing will actually help at all now unless we really have a plan for instant succession that works out beautifully, so short of that I think we've pretty much got what we've got now. I just hope it's good enough.

I note with interest that Henry is going to turn down the Bordeaux job apparently.

Wouldn't disagree with any of that. I think they'll give him the season or the vast majority of it unless we're doing really badly or are top 2 by the end.
The last two results have made me the most irritated since some of those early last season. I was thinking we'll do it this year but you don't get to top 2 by drawing at home to those teams.

I don't think we were in a position to get rid of Bruce in pre-season to be honest, especially before the takeover happened.  If the off the field turmoil had not happened, he should have gone in the immediate aftermath of the play off final defeat, but to borrow a great line from The Sopranos we couldn't "go into the unknown not knowing".

I think the takeover happened too close to the season for a change to be made at that point, so he remained in position.  What concerns me most about the last few weeks is that the same problems  are cropping up that have been present throughout his time here.

i don't understand FFP so i'm setting myself up to be shot down here but every year for the last few seasons we have had the doom laden visions of whats going to happen to us with FFP and it hasn't happened

people who understand it a lot more than me said it didn't matter whether we had money or not Grealish would have to be sold because of the FFP shortfall 30-60 mill depending on who's figures you believed

we kept him

it didn't matter how much money we had we could be the richest club in the world we couldn't spend a penny of it because of FFP

then we spent some and made signings

there's always a cry of next season, every season,
maybe it will maybe it wont, we were supposed to be in breach of FFP already according to most of the experts on here a few weeks ago now we arn't, so who knows

i'm sure you are going to come back with all the facts and figures of why we ended up doing exactly the opposite of what everyone predicted
but hopefully you can see where someone like me who admits to knowing fuck all about it is coming from

Bruce has steadied the ship but now we're into our third season with him are we actually any better now than the end of his first season?
I'd say not, we're nice and steady which is just not good enough for me.

There’s merit in that view in my opinion Tom - he’s got off to an alright start, his decision to play the back four he has is not why we didn’t win against Reading or Brentford, it was because when we were dominating we didn’t bury the opposition.

I don’t know if the fact that McGinn didn’t pass the ball across the box in the first minute against Reading and chose to shoot instead was Bruce’s fault. Or indeed if Adomahs inability to pick out colleagues when breaking tackles in the second half was down to what he’d been told off the bench. There were many other examples against both Brentford and Reading.

What I didn’t see with my own eyes was the game against Ipswich, that sounds far more of an issue. If what I hear from folk who went us corect (that he set us up not to lose and didn’t change it when they went down to 10 men) then that’s more concerning.

We won’t get rid until at least we get beaten. The replacement will be interesting but I do hope it’s not someone who got his team beaten 6-1 by Tiny Penis’s Stoke.
