So that's Lansbury not in the squad.
Taylor, shit, sub.
Thor, in and out and still hasn't convinced anyone.
Hourihane, now a sub.
Hogan, now a sub.
Bree, can't get in the squad.

How much has that cost us in wages and fee's? £30m+? Good in the transfer market my arse.

That's how you get better. You take a player who scored double figures from midfield last season and buy somebody who looks better, so that player must push on again.

the new owners have taken he spending out of his hands now because he’s a total liability

one of the first things they did, it’s not rocket science to see he’s wasted millions
they know what they are doing

I read the Louise Taylor article when it appeared in 2011.As well as her damning comments,it's the BTL comments from Sunderland fans  and an opinion from a Huddersfield fan about their former manager ,SB,.Several labelling him a dinosaur giving reasons that are similar to those expressed here.
Also interesting was the number of Villa fans advising the Mackems to go nowhere near MON because of his tactical inflexibility. That ended well, didn't it ?

I prefer to think of it that Jose Mourinho might need replacing soon!  Surely the press can only lobby for safe pair of hands Steve??

Go on, give us a player that's improved since being signed by Bruce.

I criticise Bruce plenty. You asked, I gave an example. Grealish is better now than he was in October 2016.

Matt mentions Hourihane.

Edit. Sorry I didn't read that you put signed. I just thought you meant improved.

Nah. He's yesterday's man.

I'll take yesterdays man over 1970/80's man.

That's how you get better. You take a player who scored double figures from midfield last season and buy somebody who looks better, so that player must push on again.

So from the January 2017 signings made by Bruce, we have the following:

Taylor, Lansbury, Hogan, Hourihane, Bjarnason & Bree.

Then permanents last season:

Whelan & Elmo

At a push, I'd say Elmo is a starter with one out of Whelan & Bjarnason currently taking the defensive midfield spot.

It doesn't seem to me like he's building a stronger team.  It looks more like he made poor signings in the first place and is throwing the dice again.  We finished 4th last season with those players and will likely finish around the same this season with McGinn, Bolasie, etc.

Keep Bruce next season and we'll do the same with a new set of signings.
