I think he tends to buy and loan well so he is a good transfer market manager for me. He does though seem to be lacking on the coaching side of management. He also seems to compound the problem by not surrounding himself with coaches who can handle that side of things better than him. Either that or he does appoint quality coaches but then doesn't give them the responsibility and freedom to do their stuff. Ferguson at United always appointed strong number twos who were good at coaching and tactics and allowed them a lot of influence.

Buy and loan well?
Tuzanbee to add to our 4 right backs.
Hogan, enough said.
Onsmah, who’s contributing was to stop Ohare getting a look in.
We have a problem at LB CH and centre forward.
I agree about coaching, I hear that he rarely attends BH.

he is a massive disaster in the transfer market in my view
one of the worst ever in my time supporting Villa

I wouldn’t trust the man with thruppence

I’m glad the signings have mostly been taken out of his hands and the old chestnut ‘Steve Bruce will have the final say on transfers’ which is another way of saying it’s not his decision any more because he he doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing

Depressing that we could all nod in recognition at that Taylor piece on Bruce's time at Sunderland and it's nearly 7 years on from then.

This year has seen others of his vintage - Moyes and Allardyce, been unceremoniously dumped from jobs in the PL, the message being sent out that their time has been and gone. It can't be long before the relative strength of the Championship does similar to Bruce. Interesting that Hodgson, older than all of the above, continues to prove himself in the top division. Years spent broadening his footballing brain abroad no doubt playing its part in his longevity.

What's the Fast Show sketch about the fella getting his shopping spree all wrong? Can't place it.

Almost two years on from appointment and looking at the players he has brought in, how many will be in our matchday squad at the start of next season.  Adding to that, how many has he promoted from within.  Steve Bruce does not think about the future of the club, only his own future.

I think his intention was to play 3 at the back, as it seemed like Jack was going and that we would be severely limited in our transfer dealings. All that has now changed.

He said this himself, that he can now orientated the side around Jack where as he ordinarily prefers two up front and 3 at the back allows that.

I don't trust Elphick, I dont think many do, so it's understandable he wants him out the side unless there's no option.

I think persisting with Jedinak is temporary until Tuanzebe has more game time in him. Bruce made the point that this ogbthe first time in his career that he's play 4 games in 14 days.

If we're bringing in Targett, then Tuanzebe moving inside next to Chester allows Elmo to slot back in to right back and we're looking more balanced, solid and pacey.

I would certainly like Bree, O'Hare, Davis, Green and RHM to go on loan, but at present the latter is the only other fit striker at the club and he's not had a pre-season.

I don't understand any of the complaints about El Ghazi or Bolasie that you raise. Both give us pace, an ability to counter and hopefully, better delivery. They're both an upgrade on Green and Adomah and may well get Albert's head back on right.

We will have, should we persist with 4141 a front 5 that looks about as potent as you can have in this league and that's the aim, to get out of it.

I want to see us make the 7 points up out of the next 3 games and see how the side starts to take shape once all the business is done.

Our biggest problem last year was away from home. I'm hopeful we can correct that.

This is his third season, all this should have been sorted in the first few weeks.

Take a look at Bruce's first influx of signings in his first January transfer window. Can any consistently get in the team now?

Hourihane and Thor. Bree is one for he future. Hogan hasn't worked out and he's on his way out. Lansbury has been disappoting. Johnstone has retired.
