meh, leeds are a good team. I wouldn't have fancied our defence yesterday against them. whether lampard turns out to be crap or good he's gonna lose a few games before people find out either way

Remember fans here said the same thing about Wolves  last season and we whacked them 4-1 and could do the same to Leeds when we play them.

well i'm not an expert of Bielsa as some are. whether he's this incredible genius he's made out be is open to debate and you hear these rumours that his sides run out of steam in the 2nd half of the season. That said they absolutely mullered derby who i don't expect to see relegated so we will see once the table becomes clearer

Just checking we have actually won our 1st two games and scoring 6 goals in the process. The amount of moaning on here by the usual suspects is unbelievable. Enjoy your weekend FFS!!

We're Aston Villa in the Championship. We shouldn't feel wildly grateful for winning two matches, let alone when one of them was a scraped, last-minute win at home against a newly promoted side, in a match littered with basic errors directly resulting from some odd team selections and an apparent lack of a gameplan.

Obviously there are huge positives. But there are also questions and - ominously - they're very familiar questions.

We're capable of beating anybody on our day (or we were) but in the end it did us little good.  Absolutely pointless smashing Wolves when we then followed it up with dire performances against QPR, Norwich and Bolton.  And all the time while Wolves were serenely marching on towards the title.  I'd have happily lost to Wolves if we'd have then taken 9 points from the next 3 games, as we'd now be in the Premier League.

Bielsa is one of those managers who has massively influenced the style of football played at the top level today but never quite managed to turn that into titles for his own teams. Can be for a variety of reasons - I do think if Leeds are playing the high tempo style he normally demands from his players across 44 games with no break during the winter it will definitely cost them in the second half of the season. It may be a case of staying within 6-9 points of them this side of the new year and waiting for them to blink/tire. He's also fallen out with his fare share of owners in his time... Marseille most recently where he walked out on like the second game of the season.

We play them at home three days before Christmas, and away penultimate game of the season - could be tasty.

So true Risso. I was just trying to normalise the Leeds monster but they could run away like Wolves last season😥

They started pretty well under both Monk and Christiansen and then faded.

Since Bruce took over we've got 96 points at home.

We have the best home form out of any side in the top four divisions over that time. Believe we've lost just 5.

What cost us last year was the slow start and having Jack out. If we can these loans done quickly then maybe it's our turn to be great.

I can't be arsed to check, but that can't possibly be right.  Man City have only lost two home games in total in the last two seasons.

not sure, when Bruce came in we'd played 5 home games (I think) so he's had 42 games. In the same time I think Man City will have played 33 so even with just 2 defeats they can't have got 96 points.

This is the first season this century (or in 19 years of you'd prefer) that we've won the first two. I'm not wildly grateful but I'm pleased. We start with our best player fit and with us.

I think we'll go up whatever happens this season. We need a couple lore players on loan which we'll get.

Bruce has no excuses at all if it doesn't work.

However, having a go at him when we've won 2 games is silly.
