Well it is going to be difficult isn't it?
Derby, Stoke, Middlesborough, Albion, Forest & Leeds have all spent money and look strong.  We have lost 2 of our most influential players and a decent striker and solid keeper from a team that wasn't good enough last season.  It looks very likely that we will also lose our best player in the next few days.  Of course it will be tough, what on earth do you expect Bruce to say?

It's great that you've all written us off before a ball is kicked. Jeez, I hope the players don't read this thread.

I expect him to continue to deflect any responsibility for the situation, which is exactly what he is doing.

I am not Bruce’s number one fan, he’s only stated the bleeding obvious and I would tend to agree with him on most points. If we get to the end of transfer business having replaced players lost and hanging onto Jack then by all means tear into him when he starts badly. Given the clubs turmoil we are in the absolute best position we could have dreamed about. I really fancy Bruce to turn this around I have no idea why it’s just a hunch. But his tactics do frustrate me and I wouldn’t fancy him in the premier league

No manager sits there and says we're going to smash this league.  The Championship is a difficult league and pretty much all managers say the same stuff - including the likes of Rowett & Pulis who are favourites to go up or golden boys Lampard & Bielsa.

as recent events have shown, without the  recent goodwill of two billionaires, we might well now be facing extinction.

They own the club. It's a bit different to a third party dictating our transfer policy.

Two people buy a business. They employ an outside consultant to look after part of the business. It happens all the time.

Show me another business where the consultant owns the business' employees/assets and earn his money by getting rid of them to other businesses.

What you're describing would breach 3rd party ownership rules wouldn't it?

Very likely. Ask Wolves.

If the Mendes stable perform well for Wolves this year in the top flight it will be interesting what happens over the next few transfer windows.

Chris is right. Every manager is going to say it's going to be difficult, because it's is, as we and other teams down the years have found out.

This is fair.  Thing is as the manager he would have to take his share of the blame.  But once again the club has been a bit of a mess and if we don't get any significant signings before the end of the window I think we will really struggle to even get the Play-offs this time.

No one is saying he should sit there and say "we're gonna smash the league"that would be bloody stupid.  But he could at least be upbeat and try to encourage the players AND enthuse the supporters. All Bruce has been doing of late is getting his excuses in first. Like I've said previously I always want what's best for Aston Villa and I'd love nothing more than for Bruce to prove doubters like myself wrong but his constant doom mongering is irritating the fuck out of me lately.

We're lucky to even be starting this season on 0 points before kicking a ball and not in administration. Cheer up

It's great that you've all written us off before a ball is kicked.

Leeds and Derby are just fighting it out amongst themselves for the title, both clearly streets ahead of everybody else.
