Most billionaires have taken chances and not the safe predictable option.

And you've studied enough of them to know have you?

So why do you think they have stuck with Bruce?

Bruce is safe if not exciting. It would be ridiculous for the new owners to bring someone different in, given that they have no experience in this industry.

Those who want Bruce out now, don't seem to be in the majority of Villa fans. The players clearly like the guy, and. By all accounts Chester wants Bruce to stay and likes him a lot.

If it doesn't work, then get rid, but by that time we should have a CEO etc in place.

I’ve worked for one billionaire and know three others. None of them accumulated their wealth by playing it safe.

You are Howard Hodgson and I claim my 50p

Either he is or at least one of the people he refers to is.

OK, I admit it - it's me. But no PMs with tedious begging letters. Please.

He’s much better looking than me.

We’ll just see how this goes.  All the new guys are going to be doing this season is providing the cash flow to make sure we stay afloat.  They had the chance to do something positive for the club, and they bottled it at the first opportunity. All the nice words about “they’re not here to mess around in the Championship” and they’ve just made a decision that probably means we’ve got at least two more seasons doing exactly that.

I think he’s Graham Lister. Where’s my prize?

What would have been positive about potentially giving the gig to Henry?

There's been a careful spinning of Bruce. Failure hammered over and over again as if it's black and white.

We weren't promoted, but we came very close. That's not good enough but the narrative that's being spun about the football makes out like we were awful all season and struggled.

The desire to have somebody that's less qualified to run the Villa than Sherwood was says more about the dogmatic lack of objectivity from some than it does Bruce.

If a better option comes along and the timing is right, then you improve if you can. Henry wasn't that.

All this talk of bottling is garbage.

I don’t always agree with your views but think this is spot on.

But that’s just assuming that Henry was the only option. Even Lerner managed to pick somebody half decent when he rocked up.  I really can’t see how mid season is a better time to replace a failing manager.

O’Neill was appointed by Ellis when there was still a functioning club structure in place.

That’s then the thing, we’re unlikely to nosedive under Bruce and that gives the owners some time. As it happens I’d be surprised if he’s here at the start of next season whatever happens.

He was Lerner’s choice and the fact that Ellis was still there was just a matter of timing and formalities.

Me too. Bruce has earned his second full season in charge.

I am sure Lerner gave the nod as he was about to buy us but it was Ellis who handled the recruitment. There just isn’t any structure at the club to enable those sort of decisions now, Xia is the most experienced’ football person’ currently involved.
