After hearing that Edens is a touch trigger happy,  think there's a distinct possibility that if things aren't going well after 5 or 6 games he'll be gone

If we start like last season he won't make our first game in September.

Even now I don't think he'll be our manager in second half of the season.

I imagine the quiet plan here is to bank on him keeping us competitive in the top half and then around xmas replace him just in time for transfer window.....

Similar to what Boro did last season with Pulis. I know they didn't go up but they're in a very strong position this year now and I think we're back to a 2 year cycle as we were in 2016.

The problem waiting till Christmas is that the club could already be in a relegation dogfight, then you couldn't go for somebody like Henry, then you have to start scraping the barrel for another also ran prepared to take on the biggest risk of his career, slippery slope, i'm afraid to say the decision is made so we live with it, the one thing we can say about Bruce is, he's is as good as anybody else out there at keeping a club up.

If we are bottom half at any serious stage of the season he'll be sent on his way. I don't expect us to be certs for top 6 especially if/when Grealish and possibly Chester go but we should still be in that group below the play offs.

Now the issues have settled down off the pitch bottom half would be serious underachievement.

In my opinion, the right call. Dropping Henry into his first job 12 days from the first game was asking for trouble. I would imagine Bruce is under no illusion that he has their full backing for now...provided he starts the season better than last year!

Same here

Me too.

I am not a massive Bruce fan but this close to the season, I think the owners have thought about the realities of dropping Henry into this job now, and realised that at least starting with Bruce is the prudent step.

Prudent? Maybe.

Good for football? Indisputably not.

Well, i wouldn't say it is 'indisputable' because it's a subjective thing. I didn't actually say it, either.

But then again, I don't think dropping someone who has never managed, has spent his whole career playing with top quality players, and has no concept of the Championship into a mess like this a week before the season starts is a good idea, either.

I would much rather they kept Bruce and reassessed at Christmas, a point at which they'll have a better idea of a decent manager than someone they like because they've seen him score shit loads of goals for Arsenal on the telly.

For the next three months they need to find some way to strengthen the squad whilst staying within FFP rules, and putting into place a proper management structure.

That means a grown up CEO, not a twenty something who used to run a call centre, and a management structure who can help him (or her) build something sustainable and ambitious.

Allow me to rephrase. There is zero evidence to suggest that another season under Bruce will produce different results. It's unlikely we'll get as close to promotion under him ever again, and even then we didn't get close enough. (That part is my opinion, yes.)

Also just to make clear, I'm not advocating for Henry. My posts from yesterday will confirm as much, I never wanted him and you're right, he would not have been the right man. Doesn't mean we should celebrate, or be comfortable with, being left under Bruce for at least another year.

I am not celebrating it at all, I've forked out 650 quid for next season and know I will likely be watching junk, but given the extremely difficult circumstances (need to find a way around FFP, season starting next week, new owners only just turned up at the club, total lack of a management structure in terms of CEO, COO, DoF etc etc) they have a range of extremely tricky problems to solve.

Leaving Bruce in situ, even if only on a 'see how it goes' basis is the obvious sensible choice.

We've watched badly managed, disorganised shite for 8 years now. Another three months while they decide how to tackle it is not the end of the world.

^^^ basically, yes, the manager is a problem, I just understand why they are putting off fixing that problem while they take stock and fix all the other stuff.

£650.00?! Bloody hell, when you see it in print that’s a ridiculous amount of money to watch a season of Second Division football.

It's actually £615, thinking about it.

'Fun' facts.

Bruce is the first Villa manager to have 3 attempts at getting promoted from division 2.
We've never spent 4 consecutive seasons in division 2. Twice before we've spent 3 seasons in division 2 and left it at the end of the third season both times. Once relegated and once promoted.

I don't think you can count the first season, and he got about as close as you can to doing it last season without actually doing it.
Why can’t you count the first season? Last season he failed multiple times to get us promoted due to his obvious disability of lack of tactical skills and over cautiousness.

I suspect we'll be looking for a new manager during either the 2nd or 3rd international breaks.  I suspect we'll be firmly midtable at that point and they'll have had the time to sort out the senior management and put plans together. It then gives enough time for a replacement to come in and work with the squad for a few weeks before getting the scouts out to find a few replacements.

What part of the ground do we charge 600 + for a season ticket? I remember a few years back it was big news when we charged 500 + for the first time in I think the middle bit of the Trinity.

Dave woods of the daily star said it was a verbal agreement of 450

Waiting for first news from someone that tells us how Henry turned us down as the job is not big enough for him or similar bollocks.

Sure  I have it as a verbal agreement !!  :) :D that  you've agreed to join my type of mindset . Take courage creativity and actually it's just not to be cliche and have a bit of thoughtfulness in what one thinks ! And learns to know.

It's exclusive for those willing to challenge and seek truth. Perhaps the opposite to Woodsie and the daily star .

Let us never repeat this scenario of believing the nonsense !

Thank you and good day sirs

The joke is over there are no mugs  . Back in the cabinet and to l trust there will be less  h and v  folk  being so easily duped again !
