I want the club to get its infrastructure right before dealing with the playing side. We’re in danger of sorting the candles before baking the cake.

We need an experienced CEO - and DofF if that’s the route we’re going. This club has been dysfunctional for so long I just thing a name and all the circus it brings is a distraction we don’t need and an unnecessary gamble at this time.

I don’t see why we would unsettle the playing side two weeks before the season starts. Bruce may not be the longer term answer but he doesn’t deserve the disproportionate criticism he seems to attract on here.

To be honest buddy I'm not quite sure what you are getting your knickers in a twist about with this one. Personally I think this is going to happen but I'm not sure it's the right decision by the club.

footyskillz, show us on the doll where Dave Woods hurt you.

I'm just not a mug . And I don't think others are . Need to understand how these stories work .

I looking forward to saying Dave woods all season when bantering.
And what would  Henry do is a hashtag and question to pose every match !

Has it only just dawned on you that tabloids make up stuff?

Oh no well aware .
It reminds me that people will believe anything and aren't prepared to question things  . I'm way cleverer than that . I guess I not so clever though as I've struggle to articulate my point so well and I can imagine it's annoying so I  shh ing now. And sorry if I annoyed you !

I will leave to it and stop all the daily Star made up a story other media outlets and people have hold of it and now discussing it everywhere.

Ultimately I like to be proved right on with how I've seen through the media however I truly concede this is not a forum for my fragile ego to be boosted by getting it right and then having contempt for those who are duped into believing stories.

It's a footy forum for villa and this thread is essentially regarding Bruce leaving.

The take is let it go footy . What is what is . I know  what purpose is in going on so thanks for raising awareness with subtle hints to shh!!

Appreciate and will let other choose to believe and discuss rather than be so dogmatic and militant in saying fake news !

Well played all round !

I will speak no more ! Till we hear ! And as fair as others just give views . Which are my own and that's all I ever wanted  to do.

Of course he does, he was employed to get us promoted, 2 seasons later we're not promoted and were seemingly on the brink of financial ruin until last Friday, in no small part because of both his on pitch failures but also his transfer approach being to leave us with almost no saleable assets.

What evidence do you have that as a coach he is forward thinking and imaginative? He has no credentials as a manager to draw those sort of conclusions or any other because he’s never done the job. I think some of you have been seduced by the accent and natty suits.

To flip that round, what evidence do we have that Bruce won't see us go backwards next season, we have a weaker squad that the one he failed with, if Grealish goes that becomes significantly weaker still.

You may be right and it's all made up, I can see 3 reasons to do it:
- To gets Henry's name linked with a management job to push more on the fact that he's looking.
- To help the new owners hang an axe over Bruce.
- To get people to buy the star.

I've put them in the order I see as most likely.

However, looking at Edens approach to changing coaches at the Bucks you start to see a pattern with how this story has arisen so I don't think it can be dismissed.  The key, for me, will be what the other sports writers start tweeting later this evening (and from that their stories in tomorrows papers). No one will want to miss the story but plenty of them would love to 'break' the news that it's bullshit as well so they'll have been working an angle on this today.

TBH, not sure about Henry as manager. Although if he brought in Wenger as his DOF / adviser that might sway me.

Not sure about it personally if it's true. It would be brave, imaginative, but a massive gamble. I'm intrigued by it at the same time though like I think we all are.

I just hope there has been a mix up along the way.

Henry might have been one of a number of candidates sounded out. They might have even ascertained his salary expectations and all the rest of it, and the twitterati have somehow got ahold of it.

It doesn't look like a brave move at all, it looks hatstand.

Agree with much of this.  But I am intrigued by Henry

I’m somewhat skeptical around the veracity of this. Is there anything beyond a cobbled together Daily Star story to support this?

I've got exactly the same feeling now that I had this time last year when we were linked with John Terry. I don't want Thierry Henry as our boss. Seems a bonkers move. And the new home kit is shit. Please Villa some decent news.

The kit's ok, better than recent seasons.
Assuming it's true about Henry, who would you prefer?

Hand on heart I'd stick with Bruce. One more year. Stability. It's two weeks before the season begins. Henry would be a major major media circus. And he's not experienced. I think its the new owners trying for a sensational  appointment but I honestly think it would be a huge huge gamble.
Or maybe it’ll be a master stroke. If it turns out to be Henry or any other forward thinking imaginative coach, then great. We’ve done the “knows this league” and “stability” and look where it got us. Additionally, we’re talking about the championship not the champions league. It’s an ideal place for a new coach to start to build a fresh, football playing young team that will reap dividends when we get back where we belong. Or have we bought the tedious “that’s the championship” line?

I was all for Henry this morning when I thought it was a true story how ever the only master stroke is that the daily star are mugging off villa fans and making it look like Henry is coming .

Here's the thing and consider it :
Why at 5pm sky sports news : no talk whatsoever about this major story !!

Man has a point !

Thierry Henry former employee and friend to the station and nothing what so ever !

They at sky sports  would be desperate to get that story and he kinda owes them after his work there !!  Plus all his contacts !

No one knows anything yet ....
How is it the lovely daily star get hold of it and run it and not sky sports .??

Answer that and think about that people !

Come on this even more confirms how the story is so untrue !!

Sky sports not even saying anything ! And anything have said is from the reported site of daily star.

Wake up people !

You know it makes sense !

Top marks Columbo.

I honestly think we're doing this arse about face. Surely we should get a CEO/DoF in before the manager? This whole frantic situation is akin to a club panicking, when in all honesty there is no rush. I don't think many of us really expected us to go great guns this season, so why rush it?

I agree, and this might well still happen. We will find out soon enough.

If Bruce was to leave it should have been immediately after the playoff final. We have a little over two weeks until the season kicks off. Bringing a new manager in at this point, even an experienced guy, would likely result in the club having slow start to the season as the manager and players got acquainted. A poor start this time last year was the main reason we failed to get promoted last season. The pressure on Henry, a man with no managerial experience as the main man would be immense if this scenario unfolded. I was all for twisting six weeks ago. Now I'm for sticking.
