The Daily Star

Quote
Thierry Henry to Aston Villa: Steve Bruce reveals reaction to Daily Star exclusive

THIERRY HENRY verbally agreeing to become the new Aston Villa manager came as a shock to current boss Steve Bruce.

By Luke Gardener

The current boss said: “I blurted my coffee out this morning when I read about it, my phone was going crazy.

“It’s not really about me, I’m delighted for the club itself. We’ll know more in the week.”

Bruce has also opened up on what he expects from the potential new ownership at the Championship outfit.

He explained: “Yeah the indications I’ve had were, but that might all change. It doesn’t worry me. I expressed my allegiance to the club three or four weeks ago when it was in trouble.

“I’m delighted for the club and the supporters because managers, players all move on. The club doesn’t and it has a wonderful support.

“I hope I’m given the opportunity. The indications were all positive a few days ago from conversations I’ve had with representatives of the new people. So let’s just wait, it’s their prerogative, they’ve given the club that little bit of stability again. Any club at the top needs stability, guidance and deep pockets.

“If you buy Aston Villa you’ve got to have deep pockets and it looks as if these guys have got that.

“That’s for other people to judge (if Bruce has earned the right to stay).”

Most of that was from quotes over the weekend and they've spun it to sound like they've interviewd him.

Absolutely. What a shit rag of a paper.
Still the majority of sheep will just digest it so papers like the Star are doing their job.
The answer?
Don’t buy papers such as the Star unless you need lining for cat litter trays.

Exactly another for the star after the initial 'exclusive '!

It's all a nonsense fake news story !

Just saying !

Who here know of Dave woods who exclusively broke the story and his track record on inside scoops !

The mugging off of fans will stop tomorrow and will be another clubs turn !

And by the time he's in and started he and his team will have a week and a half to get to know the players he won't have seen much of before. Cue a slow start to the season as the whole ethos and playing style is revamped!

It could of course work in our favour as every player will be busting a gut to impress and every place will be up for grabs.

The worst news I could read tomorrow is that Steve Bruce stays on as manager.

I reckon I could think of one or two worse than that......

I've got exactly the same feeling now that I had this time last year when we were linked with John Terry. I don't want Thierry Henry as our boss. Seems a bonkers move. And the new home kit is shit. Please Villa some decent news.

The kit's ok, better than recent seasons.
Assuming it's true about Henry, who would you prefer?

Hand on heart I'd stick with Bruce. One more year. Stability. It's two weeks before the season begins. Henry would be a major major media circus. And he's not experienced. I think its the new owners trying for a sensational  appointment but I honestly think it would be a huge huge gamble.
Or maybe it’ll be a master stroke. If it turns out to be Henry or any other forward thinking imaginative coach, then great. We’ve done the “knows this league” and “stability” and look where it got us. Additionally, we’re talking about the championship not the champions league. It’s an ideal place for a new coach to start to build a fresh, football playing young team that will reap dividends when we get back where we belong. Or have we bought the tedious “that’s the championship” line?

I was all for Henry this morning when I thought it was a true story how ever the only master stroke is that the daily star are mugging off villa fans and making it look like Henry is coming .

Here's the thing and consider it :
Why at 5pm sky sports news : no talk whatsoever about this major story !!

Man has a point !

Thierry Henry former employee and friend to the station and nothing what so ever !

They at sky sports  would be desperate to get that story and he kinda owes them after his work there !!  Plus all his contacts !

No one knows anything yet ....
How is it the lovely daily star get hold of it and run it and not sky sports .??

Answer that and think about that people !

Come on this even more confirms how the story is so untrue !!

Sky sports not even saying anything ! And anything have said is from the reported site of daily star.

Wake up people !

You know it makes sense !

Yes I agree with you skills and my feet are firmly on the floor on this. My point is that we shouldn’t dismiss the possibility of an Henry type coach for the reasons I stated. I’m sick of the stuff that Bruce puts out and I’m hoping the new owners are too

What evidence do you have that as a coach he is forward thinking and imaginative? He has no credentials as a manager to draw those sort of conclusions or any other because he’s never done the job. I think some of you have been seduced by the accent and natty suits.

If this isn't fake news about Henry coming then daily star will be the first we all turn too for football news and amazing accuracy !

Dave woods the man who said JT is joining lampard at derby as exclusive story .

He previously ran a story

That Chelsea will appoint Tuchel as Conte successor
(Based on a quote from Tuchel best friend)

https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/698811/Chelsea-exclusive-news-Antonio-Conte-Thomas-Tuchel-Eladio-Parames-Arsenal-Luis-Enrique

But way before that be exclusive claimed :

On 4th April Dave woods exclusive
"Massimiliano Allegri AGREES to replace Antonio Conte as Chelsea boss - EXCLUSIVE
CHELSEA expect to appoint Massimiliano Allegri as their new boss this summer - but only after running out of patience with Luis Enrique.

And Starsport understands Allegri was the man they really wanted BEFORE they brought in Antonio Conte two years ago."

But this woods is very speculative and  he misses on accuracy as he just says names of managers to take over given his track record on Chelsea exclusives!

Bore off  daily star !

The only thing could concede is that Bruce is going

But I can't have daily star exclusive that Henry is coming !

There I present hard evidence to suggest that it is Guess work and false information!

No further questions .

Thank you I rest my case

I'm just not a mug . And I don't think others are . Need to understand how these stories work .

I looking forward to saying Dave woods all season when bantering.
And what would  Henry do is a hashtag and question to pose every match !

Chris is right. I have no doubt in my mind what sort of football Henry would favour, but whether or not he knows how to deliver it is very open to question.
