I've got exactly the same feeling now that I had this time last year when we were linked with John Terry. I don't want Thierry Henry as our boss. Seems a bonkers move. And the new home kit is shit. Please Villa some decent news.

Agree on both counts.

this time last week we couldn't afford to buy this week's ration of PG Tips . Now we have the 3rd richest owners in UK football. Chin up.

The kit's ok, better than recent seasons.
Assuming it's true about Henry, who would you prefer?

Hand on heart I'd stick with Bruce. One more year. Stability. It's two weeks before the season begins. Henry would be a major major media circus. And he's not experienced. I think its the new owners trying for a sensational  appointment but I honestly think it would be a huge huge gamble.

Ach, I really hate good sensible arguments when they're against my position.

It's a mental gamble, but after watching Bruce's tedious meat-and-potatoes gamble, I'm minded to roll the dice.

And by the time he's in and started he and his team will have a week and a half to get to know the players he won't have seen much of before. Cue a slow start to the season as the whole ethos and playing style is revamped!

Stability - We're not getting this regardless, by the time the window closes we'll have somewhere between 6 and 10 of our 'regulars' from last season missing. If we want to change the style starting that sooner means it becomes 'stable' sooner.
2 weeks before the season - I share this concern.
Media Circus - How is that different to JT last year? How is it different to the huge spending of the summer before? Is this even a certain to be a bad thing, could we not use that exposure to our benefit?
Inexperienced - True but the experienced 'safe hands' fucked up last year and left us in the toilet.
Gamble - Of course it is, but so is keeping Bruce when he already failed with a better squad.

I'm not saying you're wrong, and I do share the concern about how close to the start of the season we are (and the fact that with the pre-season programme well underway we're past the time where we can work heavily on basics, which i think is needed) I just think many of those concerns are, in my opinion, a case of trying to convince yourself that sticking with Bruce is the right thing to do.

I'm back and forth on it right now but if this had all happened a month sooner I'd say binning Bruce was clearly the right thing to do and I don't think it's easy to dismiss it as still being a better idea than keeping him.

And then he flounces out in Oct/November when he realises that trying to get Whelan, Jedinak (who I actually like) and co to play one touch football is about as futile as trying to get a cat to play the piano.

My concern bizarrely is that if Henry does well another club comes in for him!

Sticking with Bruce is meh for me,I don’t see him serving us any decent football especially if Grealish is sold.  Think we’ll be in and around 7-10th for most of the season with him.  At least with a change we maybe the same or lower but with a better standard of football and more focus on developing our younger players.  They may not be good enough to for the top flight or to get us promoted but we haven’t done enough Baker/Clark the business of selling our academy players for £5m

At this stage of the pre season it’s a risk either sticking or twisting as Bruce hasn’t signed anyone yet and with the takeover I’d be wary of him spending any limited funds and anyone coming in my not have time to assess the squad and strengthen accordingly other than maybe a premier league side youngsters which I’m not keen on at the expense of our own.
