Thing is it’s all about scouting. There will be great cheap players out there, you just have to find them.

Blimey this is depressing stuff.

Easier to accept when you're on a ridiculous £3m a year rolling contract.  The only reason he's still here.

I wouldn't describe Taylor as a gift. I wouldn't say he cost us any money either, as our outlay for him was zip and we recouped a large fee for Ayew, who was crap too unfortunately.

Unless you think we paid 6 million for Taylor, which we didn't, Bruce hasnt spent close to £30m. Being 20% out and calling it close is a bit special.

I look forward to Premier League football next season, watching Sweden in the semis and hearing Prime Minister Corbyn latest on Brexit. Close enough innit.

You accept you were wrong. Good. Let's move on.

Of course he cost us money. If we'd have got £7m for Ayew, and instead got Taylor and £5m then Taylor cost the club £2m. That we didn't have to send a cheque for the £2m doesn't alter the fact that our bank account is £2m lighter because of Taylor.

And also add on the few million we paid out in loan fees.

Whilst I'm prepared to be critical of Bruce's signings, it's a bit rich to lay negative residual book values of previous managers signings at his door.

Not the point I was making. My point is that when you look at his net spend through the lens of FFP (which is the only real way to look at it from the perspective of effect on real finances), his net spend gets bigger. It is simplistic to just add up fees in and fees out, and does not give the real picture of his player trading on club finances. Fault at the prices on the books for the players he inherited is irrelevant, it is still the only meaningful way to look at his net spending.

I do blame him for saddling us with unsaleable 'assets' like Hogan, and loaning in garbage like Axel whathisface and that loan from Spurs rather than playing our own young players. I also blame him for the level of depreciation of player value in the case of De Laet (who he could have played rather than lumbering us with a high waged ageing Elmo), and the zero value we have for RM due to his shit handling of him (could have fallen out in private and got a decent fee).

That and signing a load of drek.

Yes he can.  He can stay and pocket his absurd salary despite his failure last year.

Blimey this is depressing stuff.

Separate interview on SSN is even more depressing

Fair play to Bruce though his ability to not accept any blame '' if you look at it I didn't spent alot last summer ''   continues to shine through

Comes across as open and honest, BUT, it’s different when you listen to what he’s actually saying.
Lots of bullshit about youngsters and (as he always says) if they are good enough..........
Our youngsters obviously weren’t good enough last year.

And of course, absolutely no responsibility or accountability from himself as to why we are are in this situation.

But, it’s a new season, we’ll be there or thereabouts, but if we aren’t, that’s the championship for you folks.

He's certainly found them at other clubs.

Problem here is he's taken the easy/lazy option of just going for well known players at this level due to our previous comfortable financial position and we're stuck now.

Where are the unknowns like Elmohamady (sunderland), Wilson Palacios and Maynor Figueroa (Wigan) Aliou Cisse (SHA) and Harry Maguire (Hull) he also signed for peanuts for his previous clubs who served those clubs well?

Don't see him lasting the season for many reasons.

That video, it's not like those DVDs with the military music of the Lerner early years is it?

Sounds like anything nailed down and worth a bit of money is going to be sold.

He could have said anything and vultures would have circled.
Its a choice I suppose out or in.

My opinion changed after this summer and I'm relaxed about him staying on for now absurd salary or not.

This is the Bruce out thread though so I apologise for my obvious stupidity.
