Bruce had everything going his way last season in regards to players, the best squad in the league so most were saying and he still failed to get us up, how is he going to fare with our best players being sold, he had his chance and blew it. I don't cop anything that the owner said about the best interests of the club at heart, he is a business man and his bottom line comes first second and third.
He has to say nice things about Bruce because he can't afford to sack him.

To be honest as of right now, the target will be to avoid doing a Sunderland, if as expected Grealish and Chester depart.

I think Bruce is crazy to be considering staying on in such circumstances.

Bruce spent 30 million on bringing his own players in, that’s a lot of money in this league

Every one of those players still remain and will all most probably be here at the seasons start
we gave him the money he spent it,
as I’ve said before even if we sell are best players the ones Bruce bought will all still be here

He’s already spent a bigger budget than most other teams in this league
if avoiding relegation is all we can expect of him after that outlay it’s another massive reason among other massive reasons why he’s not the man

We're not heading for relegation FFS.

Sure the squad is going to be considerably less strong than last season and we'll have ups and downs but even if we lost Jack, Chester, Kodja and Albert we've still more than enough to survive with whats left and what looks like some exciting youth talent.

Bruce and his staff earn their dough now. We're very much amongst the pack again.

Hi folks! I trust everybody's well - despite the post-final-FUBAR-sitch at VP.

I was all for SB getting the bullet after another season of failure, but I'm now of the opinion that his continued presence would be helpful during this unprecedented meltdown. The only way I see him leaving is if he thinks "Sod this, I'm off"; or there's a takeover at the club. Frankly, any manager that would want the job atm should be viewed as a mentalist &/or a complete chancer!

What an absolute fucking shambles.

Grealish, who didn't play for half the season and Chester were the difference between us pushing automatics and coming 4th and being rock bottom.

Remember to wear your hat in the sun. Fuck me.

True, but but add the likes of Terry, Snodgrass, Grabban and co to that list and it’s a tad worrying.

It's motivation aswell.

We've seen decent enough Villa teams in the past have woeful years because of lack of interest/ambition from the owner.

Last year everyone was at one to get us up. Fans-players-manager-owner.

This year everything is in limbo and I imagine they'll be plenty of dissent from the Holte end towards manager/Xia if we don't get off to a good start.

Players start to feel that and suddenly this is a new excuse as to why they aren't performing.

If we had 11 players of Hutton's attitude we'd be up there challenging again but I can see a few of them hiding behind the troubles and also a few of the younger lads given chances struggling to impose themselves like we saw in 12/13 when too many of them were thrown in.

We have needed the approach Southgatehas taken with England, instead we are stuck with Fat Sam.

Here with Round gone he is now in total control even if its with a reduced budget ...worse case scenario he gives it go for another 6 months quits and is able to blame finances ..he has seemingly escaped all blame from the Media and Xia for last season at this point he could lose the first 10 games and quit and still somehow now be blamed

I think he has got it pretty easy here to be honest and tbh I doubt there are many clubs left who would actually employ him now so no I don't think for a minute he is doing us a favour in staying

Interesting stat as we rebuild. The five England players who play for Spurs cost them a combined £11m. Between youth players, established players who will still be with us, and astute signings we can get back on our feet. Yes we lose our best young player but many others clubs do just that and find ways to succeed or continue to be successful. We just have to do the same thing.

Our net squad after sales this summer will still have lots of talented players to make a challenger for promotion.

Bruce will need to earn his wages this year rather than just picking them up.

We have some exciting talent and just maybe some of Terry's supposed professionalism has rubbed off on AH and others who will nurture some it in the young ones.

I'm not so downcast on the playing side and I will ignore some the sensationalist media speculation on the business side and let them get on with it.

Even minus Grealish, Chester and Kodja that squad is still better than any other squad promoted with Bruce in the past. He has no excuses whatsoever, and should be making the team at his disposal competitive.

What I expect will happen is he will spunk any funds from Grealish on a bunch of 'experienced seasoned players' long past their best like Huth and McGoldrick both of which we are linked with, and then play them wilst not giving our young players a chance.

If we can't afford to sack him, give him his years notice and appoint someone like Dean Smith whilst he cleans the kit or mows the pitch.

Agree, I thought the title of coach meant  a person capable of doing just  that and we do still have plenty of young talent.
