I'm out and about but I thought RHM was much better than Hogan in the brief spell he had, with Boro away being the chalk and cheese example. He offers off the ball and is proactive. Hogan wasn't.

Davis was taken out as he wasn't scoring. His confidence will improve though.

The financial constraints may actually work in Bruce's, and our,  favour.  At Hull he picked up Robertson and Maguire for relative peanuts and probably fairly modest wages.  Would he have done that if he'd had the budget to sign a bigger name on higher wages, like Terry, Snodgrass, etc.?.  Maybe he'll be forced to go down a similar route next season with us.  The problem is he probably recruits as many, if not more, duds than gems.

He did sign Snodgrass the same summer he signed those 2 ;)

He actually spent a fair chunk at Hull that season.

I'm disappointed with the fact that Xia has come out backing Bruce, I think the club really needed a change of plan and I don't see it working with him.

Then there's the incoming manager and his backroom staff to pay for.

That's far worse than if Xia actually wants to keep him. If we sticking with a manager who has failed twice because it's too expensive to sack him then we can just settle in to the championship for a while.

In the grand scheme of things, and as much as we are all gutted not to have gone up, many feeling (like myself) that he has failed in his objectives, he is an experienced manager with a knowledge of the club and squad with a staff in place. It’s one headache I am sure Xia can do without given everything else at play.

Keeping Bruce without all this other nonsense would have been a mistake in my opinion. Now the playing side can at least have a measure of calm about it. All clubs buy and sell players so it won’t be that much more disruptive just because we will lose a couple of key players. It’s happened before . It will happen again.

If we're lucky.

The statement that all clubs buy and sell players is very true, but we are not selling to re-invest in other players, we are selling for two reasons, FFP and to keep the wolfs from the door. Bruce will need to reinvent himself for this to work and I just can't see him being able to do it, in reality there are only probably 3 money making players in the squad, Grealish, Kodja and Chester, with Johnston not coming back that is the spine of the team and if we think the kids can fill that gap, we will be very very lucky and if they do, from the quick ball moving game in the Under 23's to how Bruce ball is played makes it even harder. Tough season ahead, made tougher by our choice of manager to lead us through the season.

Agree with all of that Kuwait.  The key bit for me is Bruce's ability to reinvent himself.  If he is to stay and it looks increasingly like we are stuck with him, he has to emerge from his cocoon of old school, kids never win you anything, tactics are bunk persona and become daring, imaginative and progressive the way you have to when you just can't throw money at a problem.  I hope he can but I have very serious doubts.  If Tony Xia wants to persist with the Bruce Way on his head be it.  It is his money, assuming it fell out of his pockets down the back of his mother's sofa.

Yup. You are both bang on. My worry is instead of dealing with the situation in the correct way by playing youngsters Bruce is going to scrape the bottom of barrel and sign some washed out, out of contract, veterans and plod along making excuses as to how difficult it is with the club situation and we should be grateful we are not in the bottom 3.😢

Agree with all that.
