I think everyone needs to take a share of the blame.

agreed

Xia, Wyness, Bruce

the holy trinity of failure

Yep, they’re all culpable. I’d include Round in that as well as he was the major influence in persuading Xia/Wyness to go for Bruce and despite his obvious professionalism, Villa Engine idea and wanting to promote front foot football, his main idea was then to stimy his own idea by recommending Bruce. Something doesn’t add up.

And Round exits stage left....

I put on the Tony's statement thread, I was all for him going after Fulham, but at the moment it is the last thing we need.
Who would source his replacement, because as is being seen anybody with any football knowledge apart from the team of coaches Bruce has put together, who I take it would be quite loyal to Bruce has exited the building.
Bruce has more than his share of blame for the shit state this great institution has found itself in and anyone who is under the impression this is the guy who will make our youngsters great, are in serious denial of the man's few strengths, he may just about have enough about him to keep us in the division but I am really worried this twat is gonna do a curly pube job and drop us further in the shit and walk away.
Fuck me things are really bad when your worried about Potato head walking away, thanks Dr. No for what you've allowed happen to our once great club. Toss pot.

Isn't Simon Jordan a fan of Potato head? If he is involved in the takeover there is a fair chance we will be stuck with the useless oaf.

Not bothered about Round going, ever since I read all that guff about 'the Villa engine' I have had him down as a moron.

I think he was absolutely right with the Villa engine stuff, my issue with Round (and Wyness) was always that they spoke a good game about creating a club ethos but then skuttled the whole thing by excluding the first team from it and going for a manager and recruitment strategy that was almost the polar opposite to what they described. The attempt to disguise unimaginative laziness as pragmatism never sat well with me so I'm not remotely bothered at either of them having left.

I wonder if the coaching staff will all remain? If there is a cull do we need Calderwood, Agnew & Clemence it will 1 or more of them get the thanks & good luck treatment?

If Bruce stays now then Xia has brought into him being blameless the way the media has portrayed  him through all this

Let's hope it's Calderwood.

There's no room for that kind of unbridled enthusiasm and charisma in the new Aston Villa.

Don't shoot the messenger and of course I will throw in all of the usual caveats in relation to reliability etc but my girlfriend was told on Monday, (by someone who is on the coaching staff) that Tommy Mooney is the new first team coach and that Bruce wants out and is desperately looking for another job. Watch this space...

isn't he already at the club in some capacity? If true Agnew's toast too then?

I looked it up when I heard this.  He is the Players Loans Manager, (whatever that is). A job that I assumed would fall under the Manager's remit.

If there's the smallest chance of a takeover then it'd be wise to keep Bruce.  Any new owner will have their own ideas, a preferred manager being one.  It'd be bonkers to bring in a new face, only for it to not fit in a months time.

All the signs are there, we are royally fucked.

Next season is going to be an absolute car crash.

If I remember right Simon Jordan and Bruce fell out over his desire to leave Palace for Small Heath and Jordan put him on 'gardening leave'. Jordan has admitted that his appointment of Trevor Francis to replace Bruce (who himself had been replaced at Small Heath by Bruce) was misguided and motivated by a desire to see Bruce flop at Small Heath while Palace flourished under Francis. It turned out to be the other way around with Palace struggling under Francis and Bruce taking Small Heath up through the play offs.
