There has been a lot of talk about the club being toxic when Bruce came in, with a cancerous element. In October 2016, which players/staff were causing the issues.

31 times in 49 games we scored 1 or 0.

Fucking hell. Now there's Stat of Shitness.

The stat regarding the number of games we went on to win after conceding the first goal is pretty damning as well.  I like Steve Bruce and I think he deserves enormous credit for the way he has conducted himself over the past few months considering what he was going through in his personal life.  He maintained a sense of real dignity during a very hard time from him and his family and I for one was proud that we had someone like that managing our club.

That said, I do think he has failed on the football side of things.  I think he had a poor first season and had both enough time and money to turn around the poor start under De Mattel and at least get us competing for the play offs.  There were just too many poor games last season and although there were some definite high points, it always felt that they were on the back of some excellent individual performances as opposed to our overall approach.

Nail on head.

I wouldn't say the football was great because it wasn't but I wouldn't compare it with going to the dentist either.

OK granted the root canal analogy is OTT, but it certainly wasn't enjoyable.   Perhaps more akin to sitting in the waiting room awaiting root canal work.

If he finds out his job's safe he might walk.

The way things are going it won't bloody matter who's in the dugout next season.

Sherwood?

It doesn't matter. Whoever it is won't be good enough.

The dugout is on HP.

Considering we were the 3rd highest scorers, if you contextualized that stat, it must naturally compare very favourably with our peers.

I assume the insinuation was that we didn't score much and were "dull" as a consequence, which must have made the overwhelming majority of the league far more dull than us.

Third highest scorers in the Second Division.  Perhaps we should add to the list of our honours.

I'd suggest being one of the highest scorers was a good thing.

Which is it, we're dull because we score a single goal so regularly (only its far more regularly than just about everybody else) or we score so much that it ought not be looked on favourably and instead draw facetious remarks.

I have free Peroni and as much Hendricks as I can handle, so with the 30 degree heat, you'll have to excuse my blunted senses.

Or scoring a higher number of goals than however many teams doesn't necessarily make the style of play exciting.

The only statistic that matters is that we finished 4th and didn’t get promotion.
