I fully expect Bruce to leave and some total no mark on next to fuck all to take over with a ridiculous press release from Broke Tony about sticking together and forging a young team to keep pushing us forward.

I reckon Dean Smith would give it a try.  He could always go back to making smaller clubs punch above their weight if it didn't work out.

That's would be all well and good for him but where would that leave us again?

Yeah but who do we pick who guarantees success?  We've tried the old hand, the respected foreign coach, the cheeky chappy motivator. They are all a roll of the dice.

I think that he's looking at Dean Smith's rationale for taking on the Villa job.
Much better prospect than Bruce staying.

Basically because Tony Xia feels let down by Steve Bruce.  If we are to believe the rumours.

I can believe that. And I'm guessing Wyness and Bruce are close. I reckon both will be gone. Or maybe I'm just really hoping that will be the case. The natural concern then of course is who the hell then makes day to day decisions and recruits a new manager. Round?

If Wyness and Bruce go, the first priority for the Doc is to find a credible CEO - that will be difficult under the current circumstances. The worst option would be if he appoints some patsy-mate of his who has no knowledge of the workings of an English football club; as Lerner did. The CEO will need to oversee the appointment of a new manager, with Round presumably offering the advice.
They've got until July 1st, I suppose; the date when contracts formally expire and players start to return.

Of course, they may offer Agnew the chance to manage; not bringing anyone else in.

I'm hoping Sir Brian and Ian Taylor play some role in this. Xia has to trust Villa men close to the club with this along with Round.

the football will be better

smith does ok with a team of nobodies , has outplayed SB off the park most of the time and SB would be useless with the young players.  Nick Ryan Woods and make Hogan into a proper player again .

I presume that Bruce will be back off his jollies next week and things might start to happen.  This wall of silence is very frustrating.  One shit tweet and a poxy, half arsed statement is all we've had over the last couple of weeks.

Didn't I read somewhere he was meeting the board on Monday or have I imagined that?

Not sure I have seen that.  Do we actually have a Board at the moment?  Presumably, Tony is flying back over unless they are skyping. Hopefully, whatever is decided is done so quickly and they come out an make a proper statement.

Bruce has been with us for nearly two seasons and we are less stable now than we have been in my lifetime supporting Villa
and people want to keep him in because he will bring stability

you couldn't make this shit up

In that case you can only be 2 years old.

I'm 48 and the club has never been in this much of a mess before in my time, i'd guess the only other time in our history was the late 60s.

If the Villa Engine is to have any credibility - and to demonstrate that it’s “business as usual” - then Round should be the main man in identifying the next manager. The Dr can sign the cheques.
