Well if Bruce is to go he needs to go before Sunday, so our kid can win £600 on his bet!!!

The 'buy loads of players and hope something sticks' is a Bruce problem I remember Hull and especially Sunderland fans complaining about, and there's no doubt that he's to blame for a bit of that here. It's also true that much of the serious money was spent before he arrived, so if he's taking blame for the transfers that failed so is RDM, Round and to some extent Wyness (insofar as he is responsible for advising managerial appointments etc to the chairman).

To round up nothing is his fault , he saved the club money and things he can get promotion with a few loans ...

No actual quotes from Bruce in that article so bit pointless trying to work out if he's taking any blame for last season.

Seems very confident that Bruce will be manager next season. I'm not so sure. Even considering the position we're in, odd that there hasn't been confirmation on him either way.

Like everything else, we've just got to sit tight and see what the next few days/weeks bring..

It’s all come up quite rosey for Bruce. I’m not saying he’d want us to be in this situation, I don’t think that, but the narrative suits him now.

Last few days have surely strengthened his position here.

With the mess we're in we firstly need a manager capable of getting 45-50 points to keep us up so imo better the devil you know than going left field and really risking our status as a championship club.

Stupendously sadly true.

Yeah I know people want someone like Smith who can develop the kids

But he's never been at a club anywhere near this big. It could easily break him

Doesn't mean we shouldnt but it's a risk

Next season is going to be about stabilisation and developing the kids

Then hopefully we're in a stronger position to go from there

Exactly right. And Bruce has never developed the kids at any club he's been at.

So Smith, or any other up-and-coming manager, is no bigger risk than keeping Bruce. And would quite probably be on less money into the bargain.

I think recent events have finished us as a big club for a very long time, if not forever.
