I read Dr Tone's statement as;

Steve Bruce has worked well this year despite very difficult personal circumstances.
All the big earners will be going.

We'll be doing it differently now. (Using young players)

If we're in need of watching every penny we have, I can't see us being able to pay the expense of his pay off and another managers compensation.

It's young and hungry all over again.

Whatever happens, I doubt Xia would give him his P45 while he's finally got away on holiday to come to terms with the loss of his parents.

Just what I was thinking earlier. Late-era Lerner, but in Division 2.

I wonder who wrote it up in proper English for him.

Judging by the quality of their previous efforts it wasn’t either Gabby or JT.

Worst case scenario: it’s late August. Villa head into the international break with a point from a goal-less draw with Ipswich, and a haul of 8 pts from 6 games, with wins against Wigan and Blackburn offset by disappointing defeats against Brentford and Preston and a scrappy draw with Bolton. Villa lie 10th, playing cautiously on the back foot and on the break, lacking width, penetration or pace, already 5pts adrift of early pace-setters Millwall, with manager Steve Bruce having fielded a team consisting of Bunn; Elmo/Chester/Suliman/Taylor; Jedinak/Hourihane/Grealish; Adomah/Hogan/Green.  Jack Grealish appears visibly frustrated and Steve Bruce states ‘that’s the championship’ as he bemoans a recurrence of Jonathan Kodjia’s ankle injury that will keep him out until October.

Happy with this? If you feel this is perfectly plausible then now is the time to make the managerial change.

I really can’t see how Dr.Tones statement equates to Bruce leaving.
I’m all for change, but think it’s written in such a way it gives absolutely fuck all away.

We can't afford to pay Steve and his staff off, and i suspect the Dr has no intention of doing so anyway

It'll be up to Bruce if he wants to carry on knowing the limitations he'll be working under I guess

Bruce is on a rolling contract. It can be terminated by either party now with no compensation owing. It's the acquisition of another manager that would be problematic, they'd have to be without a club or in the last year of a contract for it to be viable.

Normally a rolling contract renews every day. So assuming it's a 1 year rolling contract then every day he starts a new 1 year contract. So most likely if we binned him we'd have to pay the remaining 12 months up, as there's always 12 of his contract left.
I say most likely as there could be something in his contract to do with compensation that could be 6 months is paid up for example.

I read that statement as, we've got no money coz Steve Bruce spent it all. So now we try something different, thanks Steve, and good luck in the future.
I fully expect a Steve Bruce announcement to follow very soon.

The things from that that I feel are least plausible after the Drs statement are Grealish and Chester still playing for us. Really hope I'm wrong but thats what i read into it
