Bruce has made a habit out of telling us we'd be "there or thereabouts", but Calderwood let slip in a couple of post-match interviews that the real target was automatic promotion. By that standard Bruce has failed and has to go.

If SB were paint, he'd be magnolia.

We could save some money by employing a maanger who actually coaches the team as well so we don't have what we have now , Bruce standing there with 3 senior coaches behind him deciding how to get back into a game and coming up with sub all the midfielders off ...

Have been ruminating on Bruce’s departure or not since Saturday whilst looking around various bits of Rome. Whilst gawping at the Cistine chapel ceiling earlier realised that Xia needs an artist with an eye for the simple but brilliant whilst upside down i.e creating a team out of our squad with FFP restrictions. That isn’t Bruce (he’d be the guy putting up Michaelangelos scaffolding). We need a change to more progressive football if we aren’t to become a backwater.

If he stays, we'll get to Christmas, be about 8th, which isn't really good enough, sack him and be doomed to another fucking season in this league.

Get shot of him now.

Would probably take 8th at xmas tbh. Should mean we're only 5-6 points off top 6. Were in similar position last season and then had a good run through January which got us into 2nd six weeks later.

Would be a great opportunity for a manager to come in, get us over the line and become a hero here with a new long term deal.

I'm more worried we'd be about 14th at the halfway point like we were in 16/17.

Yes.

Can anyone seriously see him still being our Manager in May 2019? If not, then he needs to go pronto.

Even in the best case scenario, can anyone see Bruce building a team which would be anything other than cannon fodder or, at best, horrendously defensive once promoted.  Life's too short to buy into that plan.

Unless they are discussing terms for his departure, I suspect he will be here next season now.
Surely if he were going it would have been on Monday or today.
What is the point spinning it out for days or weeks if the board want to change direction?

Silence speaks volumes and I reckon he’s here for a while yet.

They might be phoning around agents and contacts to see what sort of replacement they can line up.

Surely they would have had a plan for a negative Wembley result.

I'm sure they did but I very much doubt they'd been ringing around potential managers beforehand.

Pretty sure he's staying at this point. He's said himself he'd prefer to take another crack at it, and Tony tweeted positively about the "gaffer loving the club" and the comment about people showing their "real humanity at this difficult moment".

He doesn't seem in the mood for a sacking to me.

Well if they're going to "go again" with Bruce they better get some balls and stick with him, because it we end up come November/December managerless, stuck in mid table with no money, and no clue what to do next, then it won't be Bruce's fault. I just get the feeling there's a distinct squeamishness about pulling the trigger at this present time because of circumstances but in 6 months time when its all a distant memory he'll get the chop. Problem is you don't get promoted being nice.

He played not to lose all season with a squad that most thought should have been good enough for automatic promotion so what game plan will he use when most of our good loan players have departed? heaven help us and football.

He said he was 'baffled' by how the first half at Wembley turned out. You are the manager at a vital game and you are 'baffled'?

I took that comment as a bit of arse-covering, effectively blaming the players rather than his tactics.

If he'd been that baffled,  he'd have made his first substitution before the 75th minute.

Well, yes. But there shouldn't be any mystical bafflement. He should have sorted them out and told them to get up the fucking park and stick one in.
