Doesn't matter i don't think. Smith just hasn't got the media profile to take us on. We dumped a European Cup winner after 4 months so if he's trying to un-hoof Bruce's side for half the season, the pressure is going to mount, and unless the club management is very very strong, and understand we may not be in the top 5 he'd get dumped.  Think we need someone who people will recognise is taking a chance coming to us rather than the likes of smith where it would be seen as his big break,

It’s very nearly a decade of absolute shite for the most part.

It's a bad thing that has happened to Aston Villa.

I like Davis but the reality is he rarely scored, and he did play in 30 games this season.

Nowhere near

Nowhere near what? He played in 28 league games, 1 LC game and 1 FA Cup game.

The wage bill is commensurate with our league position.

Fair enough. I’m basing mine on starts

Yes, we've been largely shit for the best part of ten years now, but at least Bruce stopped the rot and turned the club around. That should not be underestimated.
I am willing to put up with starting another season with him. I liked some of his signings, in fact most of them. It didn't work, but the fact it was so close means he will get another chance, but he will know the pressure will be on him.
It wouldn't be fair to put that pressure on a Dean Smith.
I say stick.
