With all respect to Dr Tone and the money he's spent he doesn't know fuck all about football. He employs someone who supposedly does to help him make those decisions. If he feels he no longer can trust the judgement of that man then he needs to get rid of him and employ another one, not start making the decisions himself. That will only end in a Gianfranco Zola style clusterfuck.

Hence the point I was trying to make. Maybe that needs to be addressed too.

Possibly but I'd be wary of throwing the baby out with the bath water and creating too much upheaval. It depends on how much in the hole we are financially for me.

I thought Bruce had more integrity than this, he knew exactly what his remit, certainly at the start of this season, was and he has failed dismally.
He should resign instead of saying that he will continue if the board want him too.

I am sick to death of his negativity and passionless football, he should be retired from football!

He's had a decent season but with the resources at his disposal he has failed and he really should walk.

Not sure a Bank Holiday would make any difference.

Mike.  Does it occur to you that I am recommending a more sanguine approach to the death of loved ones because, being so much older than most of the posters on here I have both endured the loss of many more loved ones and also that I am much closer to death than most of you are.   My attitude is not coldness it is the absolute opposite.

Enough of this.  I have said what I have said.  Take it or reject it.   The choice is yours.

I understand what you're saying, you old warhorse!

I am blessed with few losses in my family and friends, but they will come. And only then will I know the depth of pain and the strength I may or may not have.

I was away when my mum died exactly 20 years ago. I don't think about her every day but I miss her every day if that makes sense. Luckily for me Doug game permission for my Dad's ashes to be scattered at the Holte End.

Once he leaves Villa he will be retired , no decent club will take him now ..which is why I think he wants to try and hang about

Me as well as the crap football I can do without another season of him moaning about FPP( Ironically now it actually will be a big deal to us ) and crap like''well thats the championship '' when we lose to sides like Bolton

I was for sacking him around xmas time and have not changed from that stance

Well said John E.  I'm also tired of all the cod philosophy,  not only about stability, but also a manager who know the league, a promotion specialist, a proper football man, it's a hard league to get out of  etc.  Much of it seems to be recycled opinion picked up from dimwit ex-players now peddling themselves as pundits despite having the critical reasoning, insight and analytical prowess of Robbie Savage.  Then there are those who say we need someone who knows the club.  Why?  We need someone who knows how to set a team up to win, to get the ball down and play, to motivate make best use of the expensive assets we've got, and to have a bit of tactical nous.  Someone who can build a playing style from the bottom up and top down, who will bring through the best young players and show a bit of faith in them - would Sessegnon have played in our team?.  Someone who realises he's in charge of Aston Villa, not Wigan or Hull, and that we should be letting the opposition worry about what we're going to do to them, rather than keeping it tight and hoping to nick a goal.  It's been fucking painful watching us under Bruce and if he represents stability then you can keep it.
Absolutely spot on  great post

Absolutely spot on.  I don't suppose that David Wagner could have picked Huddersfield out on a map, let alone knew anything about the club beforehand, but look at them now.
