If he goes who comes in?
Carvalhal would be my choice

But I think they’ll keep Bruce unfortunately

Carvalhal isint a bad shout.
He consistently did well with Wednesday with a limited budget while playing decent football.

Any Manager that wants to attempt to get the ball down play football and attack teams with a little tactical imagination would be nice.

Who knows how to get the ball from one end of the pitch to the other, on the ground, quickly...

If you drew up this profile without knowing who I’m talking about, would you bite? A European coach who resigned after a second consecutive promotion taking a club with a small budget into the top division, who is known for being determined, cool under pressure, doesn’t suffer fools, who has a core of steel, had a playing career in the top European leagues, captained his country and knows exactly what our club should be.

He's been my choice for the last 6 months but it's still a big risk
as would anyone though

Go on, my brain isn't working well enough today to work it out. Who is it?
Olof?
Yep. I’m torn though.

we have to make a decision to change asap as there is very limited time with a shortened transfer window this year and the Wrld Cup. If he is still here by Friday he's here for next season.

Forget balancing the books for FFP. Do what we need to do and  take the fine if it comes.

Talk of SHA getting a transfer embargo so we could be in danger of that if we just ignore things. That would limit signings to just loans and free transfers.

IMO if we keep him he will be under pressure to start well if we don't ( which is likely given the rebuild needed ) he will be under pressure and we will end up replacing him mid season.

He has 80odd games and failed in his objective  , he was brought it as he had experience getting teams promoted and the club went short term on his signings and style of play now that's failed we need a new approach

Honestly thought you were on about Lambert! Took Norwich up two promotions before resigning, played for Dortmund in Bundesliga, captained Scotland (I think) etc.....Could've said all that about him in 2012 anyway!

Mellberg's done well in Sweden but let's remember he hasn't even managed in their top division so little different to Graham Potter who's in line for the Swansea job after his work at Ostursends.

I’m not advocating it, but if Bruce does go, I would not be surprised if John Terry takes over as manager.  I think he had one eye on at that scenario when he moved here.

I think he does and to be honest he might not be a bad shout with some more experienced backroom staff. He certainly iproved the mentality of the side this year, not enough, but a definite improvement

I don't care how good a player they were, Aston Villa should not be anyone's first managerial post.

but we're happy for it to be the last of any note for the myriad of others in recent years who came , saw and failed?
