Derby were leaving a 8m striker on the bench in the run in. They also went down the experienced route signing Curtis Davies and Huddlestone so I'd hardly call Derby a limited resources team this season.

Like SB Rowett will get teams thereabouts at this level but I wouldn't say it would be amazing to watch.

Going a bit more left field I liked the job Quique Sanchez Flores did at Watford the other year. Thought he was harshly sacked. Nearly took over at Stoke earlier this season and now available.

He's one I'd like to enquire about as/when.

I like Bruce, he seems a very decent chap and he's got us being competitive again if nothing else. He has failed to get us up though so he can't really have any complaints if he is let go and to be honest, it may well be for the best. If they were to decide to stick with him (which I don't think they will) then he'll get my support again.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Bruce resigns. He’s had a terrible few months.
The pressure of the Villa job would be immense. I think if I was in his situation, I’d probably want a bit of time away from the game. Have a season or two off, recharge the batteries and then see if the hunger is still there.

Punditry would suit him- likeable character, knowledgeable and confident in front of the camera. Just think of all the Fergie anecdotes he could bring to the MOTD top 4 wankfest too.

From his quotes he seems he is happy to carry on ...

I like Bruce as a person which is why I'm hoping he'll walk away now and not wait to be sacked assuming he will be.

He should have never been given this season, he was never up to the task of managing a club with the ambition and resources of Villa. He's a Hull/Wigan underdog style manager, he'll never play on the front foot and as Tony gambled on his 'championship knowledge' we're now in all sorts of shit come next season.

I dealt with our losing FA Cup finals pretty well but I would say today is the worse feeling I've ever had as a Villa fan. It was all so avoidable.

Bruce is the architect of his own demise. He had the weapons to win the game outright. He chose not to deploy them. This is all on him when he gets fired.
This...totally. That squad should have been top two at a canter....and even when it came down to a showdown, he chose to play it safe, because he simply knows no other way.

Has to go. How can you have a manager whether it’s an under 12s side or a professional side that has so poor tactics that a can of corned beef would be an improvement.

GO NOW so we can start to plan for a replacement

He should have offered his resignation after the match. If he hasn't then sack him.

I don't think I could bare to watch Villa play this style of football for another six months. He sent us out as second best using wingers as full backs and our key forward as first line of defence. When he was forced to attack low and behold we were more than a match for them, but that is Bruce, he is not for changing so we must make the change.
If we had won I could have envisaged Bruce paying big money to get most of the on loan players made permanent and that would have been a disaster because while most have been useful in the premiership they would never have been good enough in the Prem and that includes Terry. What I don't want is another manager that has been on the merry go round.

I worry for the immediate future as we expect the world. European champions, record fa cup winners and league cup winners   We were all of those but now have to cut our cloth much more finely.  We let Bruce go who do we get in and what budget would they have.  One name up to a couple of seasons ago would have been warburton but a move from a small club didn’t work in his favour. The obvious candidate with similar credentials would be dean smith but there can be no certainty to success. At present Bruce is the managing partner in the firm let’s not become an Albion or Leeds, it could set us back further

I think the damage done to the club by not getting promoted this season my be irreparable.
We have a second division manager and we will be a second division club for a long time.
It’s now about what sort of football we play.
