I like the idea of Terry as a manager, but its certainly a massive job for a novice. Take out the loans, and the one's going  - that's 6 first teamers gone from today's squad including Terry. Plus any players that we get good offers for. Hell of a rebuild job
I thought we'd just had a rebuild...

hah, yeah, well that was always the problem with Bruce's or the club's promotion strategy. End of the day, loans and players at the end of their careers aren't assets and will need replacing/buying once you get up. If you don't get up, well........

It's certainly gonna be tricky, but Fulham were relegation fodder a couple of seasons back - and Wolves went down to L1 in recent-ish years. It just shows how getting the right manager in can lead to great things. Let's hope we follow suit then, eh?

I think a lot will depend on Steve Bruce himself   Can’t see Zia sacking him and would any replacement be better?  He lacked game management today which is devastating

I’m sick to the stomach. The better team won over the season and we looked what we were, the 4th best in a poor league. I still believe Bruce has taken us backwards not forwards cos we’re truely back to square one now. He has to go and go now so the new man can start immediately a rebuild. He’s a nice guy I’m sure so I won’t resort to some of the abuse he’s getting on here but I don’t care if he’s nice or not. He wasn’t employed to be nice. He’s failed to do that and quite honestly I never thought he would. For what it’s worth, I think the Fat Frank/JT combination is worth a go.

I think my feelings are best summed up as: Steve, you had one job...

We certainly need someone who can wheel and deal and get a tune out of our much vaunted youth team. certainly the European market needs to be exploited a bit more. Other teams can do it.

Anyone who wants to keep him, just be aware that he said "we'll go again" next season. He should leave purely for that.

We cannot continue like this. Our style of play is clearly not good enough.

So, if Bruce goes, who would you go for? Ruling out the old faces/usual suspects because you may as well stick with Bruce if that's your preferred route.

A British manager with a bit of experience ( Dean Smith, Chris Coleman)

A recently retired high profile player (Lampard, maybe even JT)

or an up and coming foreign coach?

Personally, I would try to get Dean Smith.

Don't see why Dr Tony would hesitate. SB was close to going around the Barnsley game and of course the owner gave him scope to sign all these over 30 players to apparently get us over the line.

With respect to his personal situation there's enough there to make a professional decision to let him go now as he had the pre season and full year he wanted and hasn't got us up.

I've always wanted Howe. I want a guy who see's us as a long term project like SGT did when he came to us from watford. Someone like him is never going to get a top6 premiership job but he can build a top 6 side from our base. Dean smith?, mebbe. Someone has to take a chance on these guys or otherwise you continually selecting from the same small genepool of bog average managers who become available like Bruce
