It will be interesting to see what happens with Wagner should Huddersfield go down. He's done more than a decent job this season keeping them out of the bottom three but you do wonder whether they can last the season. If relegated I can't see him staying there, he's already got the T shirt. Unless some PL club like Newcastle make a move for him if Benítez decides he's sick of the circus up there, Wagner may be an option. We approached him and delayed the appointment of Bruce on the hope he would leave Huddersfield but the timing was wrong. He was interested though so who knows this time. Lots of 'ifs' but should certainly be on our radar whatever happens in May.

Regardless of whether they drop or not then I can see us going back for Wagner if we don't get promoted. The reason he didn't come last time was because he wouldn't agree to a guarantee of a play off place that season when picking up RDM's pieces.

It would be a smart move on our part. Not just because he's shown he can win in the Championship on limited resources but also because he'll have learned a lot from his PL experience. I hope he doesn't get fucked off however should we put something in the contract about not wearing a stupid baseball cap.

What I find mental about the post RDM manager search was who we had interested and then knocked back because of our "conditions". But those conditions were all around immediate (ish) promotion. It is why I still cannot fathom why Bruce was kept on last summer. Regardless of your views on stability, he was given a specific brief (the play offs) or get chopped. He didn't get close to it.

Hogan starting tonight, so I can only assume Bruce doesn't want to win too many more games until playoffs...

If he manages to keep them up I think he'll stay as he has another year left on his contract plus he has a great relationship with his chairman. Relegated and he'll look for a new challenge. Southampton are the other club recently rumoured to be sniffing around.

We should be fine then.

I’d stay away from the British type merry go round managers including Warnock

whoever we go for if we do will be a risk because there is no such thing as guaranteed

Mellberg for me,
there’s a load of reasons why not but there is with anyone,
I’d take the risk on him developing us and with us into a good fit, like Dyce and Howe have with there respective clubs

Hilarious, but still sad that it is hilarious. Ten years ago recruiting the Spuds manager would have been a perfectly sensible if slightly stomach churning suggestion. Just shows how far we’ve fallen.

Whose advocating we recruit Spurs manager?

He's likely off to Real Madrid, which must be the only reason Zidane hasn't been binned. I meant I want somebody like him. Reading his biography, he seems exceptional.
Spot on, looking for a manager of Poch’s class is where we should be going and what we should have done when we hired Bruce.

I would argue way before that, should've targeted one when we'd just finished 6th three times in a row.

Laughable shortlist we put together that Houllier topped.

Lol!

He scored a goal when the game was already put to bed, against 10 men. He's been largely shite for us and his return demonstrates that.

The club didn't/doesn't need more change, it needs more stability.

On appointment I said that Bruce should be given three years. I stand by that.
