It's like being on the politics thread.

Warnock has a way of playing based on the resources he has available to him and he sticks to it. Bruce flip flops all over the place and it's in large part why we have these streaks. He happens upon something that works and we get a good run of results. Then the moment it doesn't instead of sticking to it and riding it out he'll try a number of different things, some utterly bizarre before stumbling upon in some cases something else that works and off we go again. I just hope he finds something else between now and the playoffs and gets us up. Because scoring once in 3 games against the giants of the game; QPR, Bolton and Hull doesn't bode well.

Agree with this.  Yes, it is an unattractive approach, but it has been effective.  As you say, we don't have a definitive style of playing and it too often results in horribly disjointed performances.  There doesn't seem to be any real balance in the side and too often the approach seems to be to get the ball to Grealish and Snodgrass and hope they can produce something.

Warnock is very good at what he does, what he's doing at Cardiff is on a par with the miracle he performed at Rotherham. Turning them from a shambles and looking odds on for the drop into the most in form side in the division and keeping them up. He is a bit of a twat though.

Oh absolutely, a particularly unlikeable character in his professional capacity (can't really comment on what he is like in his personal life).  As unattractive as it is, his style is effective and he makes the best use of the resources he has.

A more attractive style and arguably even more effective is the one employed by Nuno at Wolves, and it was interesting to note his reaction after we battered them a few weeks ago.  No panic or change of system, just a few changes of personnel here and there, and they got back on track.

I don't give a shiny shite how obnoxious Warlock is - all I know is that I would rather he was out manager and we were second as of this morning.

Warnock's football is cut from the same cloth as SB's surely? Long ball, play the percentages, men behind the ball etc.

Difference is surely expectation. Maybe Cardiff fan on here will confirm but he took over last season when they were second bottom so only expectation was to build gradually and keep them up.

SB took over a similar point last season with us 2-3 places above Cardiff yet the expectation was even with 3 wins in 12 months we must finish in the play offs. We weren't ready and so it proved.

This season a bit different of course. I wanted top 2, we had a chance and failed. Still could deliver the remit of course through the play offs. Generally though we have signed functional players and so play a functional style.

I'm not sure if Warnock quit Cardiff (as he says he dosen't want to manage in the prem) and took over here next season our style of play or league position would be much different next year tbh.

As I said yesterday, he signed a new two year contract extension a few weeks ago, and definitely DOES want to manage in the Premier League.

O.k so he will be staying.

If we ditch SB end of season I'd prefer us to go down the Dean Smith route. Get in a manager who can develop players and style of play.

Next season will be harder to challenge for a few reasons but I'm sure we could still be in the mix for play offs as we will still have some good players in the squad.

I would want to go somebody like Poch if I had the choice.

He's pound for pound the best manager in the country and if he can make my hardline anti-Spurs views soften, then he has something about him.

Hilarious, but still sad that it is hilarious. Ten years ago recruiting the Spuds manager would have been a perfectly sensible if slightly stomach churning suggestion. Just shows how far we’ve fallen.

Not sure he would have the same success with us as it would be a totally different dynamic.  He has done well at clubs where he is able to peddle a "noone rates us / noone like us" narrative and he wouldn't be able to do that here.  There would also be a level of expectation on him that he would have not experienced before and as we have seen with Bruce, some managers don't like that light being shined on them (I saw an interview at the weekend where Mick McCarthy referred to Ipswich fans who have dared to become disgruntled with years of lower mid table finishes as "numbskulls").

I think this is right - I've worked in plenty of places where staff have come into a bigger operation and floundered where they have previously excelled and I think the same happens in football.

Whose advocating we recruit Spurs manager?

He's likely off to Real Madrid, which must be the only reason Zidane hasn't been binned. I meant I want somebody like him. Reading his biography, he seems exceptional.
