not just some AV fans but i see it all the time but why does warnock get so much stick around the country ? he's taken an ailing championship club to promotion contenders spending bugger all this season  . he's got a good track record at championship level too . if we don't go up this season i can see alot of championship clubs clambering for his services why not AV ?

He gets stick due his 'world is against me/my team' attitude and his abrasive manner. The irony of all this is that as for his managerial abilities he has a lot in common with our manager. They are both a good bet to get you promoted from the championship but despite all their years in the game neither of them have a top flight CV that suggests that after winning your team promotion to the Premier League they would be capable of keeping them there.

after the dingles match I thought he would hammer cardiff 3 - 0  , now we have no chance have beating them ..   draw or cardiff win
We'll probably beat Cardiff 4-0 then lose against Norwich. It's the new Villa way.

If that happens then we’ve got bigger problems with the space time continuum than we have with promotion, because we’re playing Norwich first!

We're Aston Villa, we will play who we want when we want. ;)

Pardew has just left Olbiun.

If we move quickly, we could snap him up.

I think it's reasonable to suggest that the players are feeling the weight of expectation as the season reaches its climax, so I'm hoping Bruce can use all the experience he has of this division (!) - allied to the old heads in the squad - to somehow steady our ailing performances. That said, I've got this horrible feeling that the final game of the season will be the first of 3 consecutive games with those Scumwall sawts. Triffick.  :o

I've said it before and I will keep saying it. With the age and experience of our squad we have no excuse whatsoever for bottling a promotion push in the league season or in the play offs.

I absolutely agree that there's no excuse, but it appears to be happening right before our eyes.

Because I just can't stand the bloke. Hearing him whining on about his perceived injustices is reason enough not to want him to darken the doorstep of our club. For example when the game against Derby was called off due to the snow he stood there in the snow making all kinds of accusations against Derby as if it was their fault. The police and the football club called it off as they considered it too dangerous for thousands of football fans to attend the game. Can't stand him. He's a grade 1 cnut in my opinion. However I have no truck with Cardiff, good luck to them.
Colin W does all the things he does because he knows it works: he knows that it gives his team an advantage, and he will push the limits of acceptability to the margin.
As for the Derby debacle, I thought the police had nothing to do with the postponement; hence Colin W's 'annoyance' (made worse by Rowett's comments about Derby's injury list).

I don't mind Warnock, can understand why upsets people but he's more entertaining than the media trained puppets that trot out the usual bland clichés for the press. I loved that when he was Leeds manager he recorded a video of his favourite memory of his time in football was when Jagielka scored a last minute winner for Sheffield United against Leeds, he had a knowing look on his face and knew how it would upset certain people.

Wouldn't want to watch his teams week in week out but then again there aren't many teams I'd want to watch week in week out.

It suggests that neither of them are very good really unless they’re in a division like this when the rest of the opposition aren’t particularly good either

Warnock and cardiff are the perfect fit for me, but i think Bruce could have probably done it there as well. These guys specialise in taking smallish clubs with no recent history of success or tradition or any baggage, mould them into their image and get them up. The problems start when they go to clubs where people can still remember half decent football being played. Then it doesn't seem to end well.

I struggle to see how Steve Bruce’s version of Football is any more entertaining than Colin’s.

Dinas you reckon it's not an easy league to get out of.  Yet Warnock seems to be managing it on a shoestring simply by having an effective plan A that suits the squad available to him.  It really isn't rocket science at this level, the general standard is, in my view,  pretty awful.  That's why the likes of Colin and yes, even the bumbling Bruce, can usually do well at this level, but come a cropper when the quality of opposition is significantly increased by reaching the PL.  That's why for me, Bruce would have to go even if he somehow gets us up.  It's horses for courses, and Bruce would be a carthorse amongst a fair few thoroughbreds.

And if you think our "football" is pretty I dread to think what you are watching every week, because ours is about as pretty as our manager.

I very much doubt it. Warnock knows exactly what he's doing. He knows it may be ugly, rough and route 1 but he's fully aware of the limitations he has, plays to their strengths and knows how best to punish the opposition. I've never had that impression with Bruce. Typical Bruce was seen again on Saturday, playing a player out of position whilst he has two players on the bench that normally play in that position. He's his own worst enemy.

I don't know. Its like chalk and cheese, us and Cardiff. Warnock came there and even if he wanted to become Guardiola the finances wouldn't let him, so he's built a team in his image and lets face it he hasn't had to convert a lot of "footballers" to hoof ball. Bruce on the other hand inherited a squad full of well paid players who sort of should be able to play football even if there wasn't much recent evidence of it. Like i said in my original post, Bruce did well at clubs like blose, wigan and Hull because like Warnock he could build a squad in his own image without those pesky players like grealish who need the ball to do anything, and without anyone caring if they're awful to watch. Here he's fallen between two stalls.
