If we lose another two games, he might as well go.

Jesus Christ you lot need to get a grip! Sure he’s not the modern manager we all want but don’t underestimate what he came in to.  Sunderland, owned by a bloke far richer than ours ( as far as we know) go down, no stabilisation (ie accepting we are shit and just knuckle down) and now on their way to never never land.  Barring a few dodgy results and a start that might be our downfall, he’s done a bloody good job and deserves a another go if we don’t make it this season, in my opinion

Not next season. Fail in almost two years at it and he goes. But he knows this. Punting him now would be fucking mental.

I agree, to get rid now would be suicide, you have to fancy his chances in the play offs. But if we don't go up and finances change, he's not the guy to work with a young squad.

I would probably stick with him even if we don't go up tbh.

He's still the man for me too next season. His contacts & use of the loan market could be crucial next season if we don't go up. Sacking someone who has had a decent season & just missed out wouldn't feel right to me. It's still not over though,we can still make it!

Nah, if we fail this season he goes.
The task next season will be different to this or last season. And: his head may not be in it, given the effort and emotion of this season. If we don’t go up this season, it may take a couple more to get back up.
The key question is not about the manager: it is about whether the owner has a long-term ambition. If he decides to bail out, we’re into a difficult period in our history.

Given his resources and taking into consideration the mess previously, he's been mediocre for the majority of his time here. A couple of local derby wins (at home) and he's "done a bloody good job"? Those two results were great more for the performances. Practice makes perfect.

I'll wait until the end of the season before my final judgement as I did last season. I expect to draw the same conclusion. We can do and deserve  much better as I'm sure Xia agrees. And once again, for the record, this stability stuff is well overrated. Ask Xia what he thinks about stability having pumped so much money into the club.

I think stability was important for us, it needed doing. We couldnt go on like we were.

Absolutely, just a question of where you do it. Will we have greater stability if we are in the Championship next season? I very much doubt it. Hopefully that won't be the case.

To be fair, he openly said in interviews at the start of the season that he knew he'd get canned if we didn't go up.

That's not quite what I meant though.  We needed things to settle down after going through Lambert, Sherwood, Garde, Black and Di Matteo in the space of however long it was. People wanted Bruce out last season and that would have been boss number 6 since the mumbler went. Do we just  simply change manger every season that we don't go up?

He was brought in to get us up - quickly. I'd say he fell at that fence last season but keeping him in charge another season in the Championship would be a complete pisstake
