I think Bruce just needs to man up a little bit, and decide who out of Jedinak and Whelan gets dropped from the squad for another attacking player, like Green.  There is absolutely no point in having Jedinak, Whelan and Tuanzebe all on the bench.  If we find ourselves needing to score to change a game, then none of the current sub options really offer much from an attacking sense.

Recently Jedinak has been centre back cover so until we are confident we have better alternatives I would stick with the current approach.

We have Tuanzebe to cover centre back, rightback and DM.  Jedinak as DM or emergency centre back.  We shouldn't really need both Taylor & Wheelan on the bench too.  Arguably we could live with neither given the versatility of Hutton & Tuanzebe.

no way should Jedi and Whelan be on the bench

Get green on the bench for Whelan and then there is  competition for Albert if he looks under par and Id drop Houriane from the first 11 anyway at the moment  .

To be honest Id prefer one of our own on the bench like O'hare than Odamah , he cant be any worse than him.

I think I may have sent Onomah home. Lansbury and Hourihane am play the number 10 if Grealish gets crocked. I agree about Green being on the bench but Onomah would have been my choice to make way.

I would be wary of relying on Tuanzebe until he has settled in, there is too much at stake to take risks with him at the moment. Particularly given the nature of our next game.

Onomah is getting some stick recently, I think overall his loan has been a success and his age and experience is going to mean ups and downs in form. He did pretty well when he came on on Saturday with some beautiful link up play with Jack for the penalty that never was.

I think talk is sending him back is an overreaction and he'll hit form again by the end of the season. Form is temporary etc.

Is it not a risk to have no wingers or attacking midfielders on the bench?  If we're a goal down who comes on to increase our pressure and gives us a chance of getting back into the game?

Isn't it nice to be discussing who to leave off the bench?

Very!

Although it probably means that we're going to be ripped apart by injury very soon and end up with Agbonlahor and Richards back in the starting line up. :(

I don't mind him starting the same 11, lets not forget that team was 2-0 up after a little over an hour and, despite not looking their best, was fairly comfortable.  The issue is that the lack of even reasonable replacements on the bench means we ended up looking unbalanced in attack and everything gets a bit messy.  We're effectively playing with 5 defensive roles and 5 attacking roles but we have a bench with the only attacking players being Davies and Onomah (who should be counted as a defensive midfielder really).  Given Tuanzebe covers 2-3 positions and Barny could do  a job at left back in an emergency I'd probably go with: Bunn, Tuanzebe, Jedinak, Onomah, Green, Grabban and one from o'hare/RHM/davies.
Exactly my thinking, and I’d add that the manager needs to commit to replacing the likes of Hourihane and Adomah earlier In the game than he is wont to do. Get the team freshened up proactively rather than as a response to something that just happened; make the other manager think about our changes rather than vice versa.

i just think having Whelan on the bench when you have Axel and Jedi there and Green and Ohare not getting a look in

Whatever the line-up though, it's working. To be fair, in the last couple of games when Jedi has come on in place of a more forward-thinking player we've then scored a few minutes later.

not got a problem with Jedi , he should be on the bench but not with Whelan as well when the likes of green are not on the bench , we need more creativity on the bench  not just Whelan, Jedi and Axel F

I am getting the impression we are trying to keep Tottenham sweet with some sort of unofficial arrangement to play the loanee. Onomah isn’t really pulling up any trees and certainly is no winger.

Shame he has shown no desire of returning the favour and playing for us.
